JJ let me preface by reiterating that I am in for the long haul. Your suppositions require a bit more than wishful thinking. Undoubtedly, there will be pent up demand but you nor I nor anyone else but the company itself can indicate when online will be back.Those here-and I think you may be one- claiming '400 by the end of the week' etc are misleading novice investors who may have risked all their savings for an investment that may not come to fruition for several months. MKS need to give a timeline for getting back online. When that happens optimism will be vindicated. Everyone should cease these bullish comments until there is a clear forward view. What I will say is that if there is significant drift institutions may start to get edgy. It was interesting the other day that one broke ranks and was supportive saying any bidder would need to pay a hefty premium. I just wonder whether he had been put up to this by Archie or Stuart who may have been getting a bit of a hard time. Amazon good gobble this up in a moment on an agreed bid basis. No one would turn down Amazon paper.

The reality is that there are investors here who make ludicrous and misleading claims as to where the SP will end up. Their claims have proven to be so much hot and dangerous air. In doing so they make total fools of themselves. I am a large, long-term holder. I plan to hold for two years. I woukd never dream of putting ludicrous comments such as '400 at the end of this week'. What is the point of that whne the price today has dipped below 370....idiotic.

I don't disagree on the DYOR: that is key. Sadly, many chancing on a board like this will take strident bullish or bearish comments as 'research'. The most I have ever said about a company is focused on management capability. I think that it's going to be £4/£5/6 in xyz months is fatuous. No one can sensibly make these forecasts and by doing so the naive get sucked in. It's fair to zero in on generalities but comments that look as if someone is trying to rapm the price

Jj that is not entirely true. I am not an experienced investor and though am cautious I know of others very much influenced by relentless claims about what a share price may or may not do. One poster here before the cyber attack tried to suggest £5 within a few months! Whatever Fender can be accused of ramping the SP is not one. As for Humphries . ...a nasty piece of work

If you consider being perennially bullish about a stock being balanced, that we have opposing views of the interpretation of 'balanced'. I suggest you review Humphries' comments and provide one negative view of Mks: you will struggle for they do not exist.

Budd's comment is measured and intelligent. I would make an investment decision using the data provided by him. Sadly, others here are relentless in their bullish comments. I name Mr Humphries as one gross offender. By spewing out a stream of upbeat SP views they mislead inexperienced investors. This fellow Humphries even implied I was a 'shorter' even though I would not have a clue as to how to beneficially short a multi-billion pound company!

As a matter of interest, I am a large, long term holder but am aware of the volatility of the SP. People like Humphries and others need to grow up and stop flinging insults at anyone who disagrees with them: it's tiresome and idiotic

I have been rattled by Mks and am a v cautious investor. I was planning to buy more RR as I feel a bit more in tune with what the co is doing.

Neil, you really are a bit of a pain. Not only am I a long term holder but I debate with myself as to whether to add as of this moment or not. There are imponderables that only a fool would ignore. Try having a little common courtesy rather imagining the investing world hangs on your every word.

I suppose my big concern as a largish LTH are these massive swings: I find it deeply uncomfortable. We have ranged from just below( I think 318) to close to 400...all in a few months. I am a very boring fellow and like a bit of stability. This share seems to be constantly moved by volatile traders. It is not a criticism but an observation. Will always be ever so? Who knows

Who knows...it will be a protracted battle. It is a huge amount of money and who should pay will end up in the courts. My original feeling was that Allianz and Beazley would cough up without demur but if they can stick it on Tata that is what they will do. Tata is big and bold enough to fight tough and nail.....could get interesting and £300m payout is far from being a fait accompli....and by the way, I am a robust supporter of MKS but unlike Neil I take a pragmatic view.
