Fender, Happy Christmas to you though next year we will be forbidden from saying so in case it insults Islam
We all have to follow our gut—so to speak. I’m a great deal older than you (I assume), and I’ve seen trends come and go, including the rise and fall of MKS. I remember when Amanda Sieff, an old friend of mine, persuaded her father to get into food decades ago.
To be honest, the British never stop moaning about one thing or another, but despite that, they don’t give up on the things they love. I think you’re a mean-minded older trader always looking for a deal (just pulling your leg here!)—you’d travel miles for a bargain.
I’ve only been to the Sainsbury’s on Cromwell Road once… it was awful. Yet whenever I go to M&S on the King’s Road, I get a wonderful, uplifting feeling. It’s quite addictive.
Back to my original point: apart from the cyberattack, the broader leadership team at Marks really hasn’t put a foot wrong. If they’re planning to open 500 new stores despite the economy, they must have very solid facts behind that decision.
As I’ve said, I’m indifferent to the daily ups and downs of the share price. I’m holding for the next three years, by which time I plan to leave this benighted country and wait for Reform to sort out the mess left by socialism and Toryism.
