The divi is a good reason to buy on the surface. Don't know how much it is covered by though. GLIF has never been good at presenting clear, simple, transparent financials. It would also be good if they were frank about the state of current and expected competition to counterbalance the implicit narrative of a 'land-grab'. I'm going to hold back from buying more ( beyond those from divi reinvestments) until the BoD gives more detail on the progress towards profitability of the multiple platforms and better forward guidance for GLIF as a whole.

You may be right about the rational value of FOGL resources. My concern has been the change in comms handling by the FOGL board, both in terms of the relative silence and poor detail throughout this year. I think the market will be very rough towards a now perceived weakened FOGL that has no credible SFB story , diminished and unclear cash position, no comms or schedule for releasing CPR results and no grip with operators if operational/drilling challenges. I'm out, as I rebalance my portfolio. ATB to past, present and future holders

Good morning, Hot. Thinking of putting some AV. in my SIPP ( or finally taking the hit on QPP in my iSA and putting the remaining sum into AV.). Lots of brokers still with a +£6 target. I'd be very happy if we see that within the next few quarters

I don't mind reinvesting dividends and waiting until those +£3 days to return.

Optimus - I was shocked when I logged on to start the return that my status showed HMRC as owing me £77! Could take a punt on PTV with that! I'll let you know if anything alien shows up in my account in time for Christmas! More likely, if anything at all, I'll end up getting a softly-sinister call or email requesting further details/clarifications about my return.

Did my self-assessment tax return last night, part of convincing myself that I can overcome my general procrastinatiion in all things. Let us see if HMRC are as tidy in repaying my overpaid tax! May buy some WPCT or SEC for the SIPP with the sum.

Game changer on costs and clarity of seismic mapping, if it works and works reliably in different and difficult sea conditions. If successful, will probably be put to other non-exploration uses. Like the no-debt, cash-rich position of the company but as the Chairman warned in interim results statement tough times are ahead for the industry through 2016.

GS- you are right, lots of lovely places in Kenya and I should be happy and not hankering after more 'edge'. Timing counts for a lot in housing as well as share dealing, I guess. Optimus - yes, more than comfortable enough to rent ( but I really should try to shed my feeling that certain houses are only worth such amount intrinsically regardless of what the market/estate agents say). Yes, RNO chain-makers who are going through a turn-around story. Sometimes hard to know when to bet on new management, other times it is clear - I remember a moment of enlightenment with an RNS from AV. when Andrew Moss was in charge and realising he was the completely wrong guy and the completely different tone from his successor and knowing that they were going to pull it around - should have bought many more then around 300p!

Optimus - not sure if I can get back to the Shires, what will the incredible house price rises that have happened since I started wandering. May end-up just having to pay twice-yearly visits back "home" whilst roughing it out in Brazil or Jamaica! Sometimes I miss the smell of manure and of a freshly-brewed pot of tea. Looked at RNO and MONI last night for old time's sake having made some money on both previously. Clearly sold RNO too early but thankful I 'timed' my MONI exit well. Hindsight is a wonderful, delusional thing.

Optimus, like your emphasis on diversification and focus on divi-paying shares and funds. Hope I can shift my portfolio that direction over the new year. Living in Kenya for another 6 - 9 months, I reckon. Bit of a nomad now but grew-up in the shires.

GS - I only work nights when workload is heavy or cannot sleep, which has been quite a bit recently. I'm 2 hours ahead of London at the moment, in Kenya.

GS - that sounds about right. I used to keep my eye on Liontrust's Special Situation Fund but haven't looked at it for ages. Very bad days are all relative though as is patience to wait for the "inevitable" rise!

I'm badly down on QPP but overall have been helped this year by EVR (out around 160p), BEZ and now by GLEN. Grateful for the divi from other shares. Not read any hard analysis comparing "time in the market" versus "staying in cash and buying on particularly bad days"

Optimus, thanks for the views on MPO. I think they will be good for the long-term despite the heavy discount to NAV that the market is pricing. All the best with your Peterborough journey.

GS - I hope you timed your entries and exits better than mine! But I shouldn't complain - still doing well. Need to offload FOGL and QPP by end of year ( presuming more bad news doesnt come) and go into something more sensible, stable among my list of 'never quite buys'.

The (current) dogs in my porftolio: VED, QPP, JIL and HZM. The stars: AV., BEZ, Unicorn UK Income, EMG (!). The outright binary-bets: FOGL and VRP. The flukes: GLEN and BoI 13.37% Bond. The long-term hopes: VOD, SRP and MPO. The ones I always think about buying but never quite do: PTEC, Dignity, POWR, LIO, RDSB, WPCT and Next!

Glen closes 21% up today. 42% up on my punt from last week. Surprised - I didn't imagine it would rebound so quickly and yet it it is still massively down on the year. Let us see if there is a retrace today.
