@NoFear Close Bros up since 2.20pm today from £1.85 to £2.03. Well, who would have thought? Er, JO that's who...but what would I know? Lol

@JG68. Wood Group has been oversold. I'd say it has been over-cooked like your wife's Christmas turkey last year. Don't worry though, the Wood Group review will be no where near as bad as the market thinks, so the fast recovery will act like that lovely jug of gravy you use to spoon over your over-cooked, dry and crusty Christmas turkey breast next to your golden roast potatoes and soft and rather damp brussels sprouts. The fact is that at the moment Wood Group is a nice buy at 50p-55p (a bargain at 49p). Of course, you have to be in it to benefit from the rocket rise once the review is complete. Only for those with spare cash and who like the occasional gamble...and tipple to calm the nerves. Lol

What do you think about the surge on Close Bros from 2.20pm this afternoon? A buy signal? Finally or a false dawn?

@JG68 @Trisor @Trenners. Don't worry about the current Capita share price. It's a game that's all that's being played out by certain investors. Think about whether you want to buy, add or hold...and wait until the next set of Capita results come in. The 'market' will react positively to the next set of Capita results. JO has spoken. All IMO of course.

@JG68 Sorry to hear that. Probably best to wait for the Wood Group results as the share price will likley potter along between 50-55p until then. If the review is favourable, the share price should bounce back to circa 90p-£1. If the review is not favourable, it may drop to 40p...worse case 30p (but that would have to be a disaster of a review). I like the odd gamble from time to time, which is why I'll most likely wait for the review. That said, I am on the Wood Group chat so best to add comments on that discussion board rathe than here.

Out of interest are you still in Capita?

Wait - I just checked on my Prudential stockholding...it's currently at £6.23. Now why didn't my resident stock-watchers Aimless or SavageGarden let me know it is on the rise? Oh, yes, I think I know why... Lol

Ha ha. As if you bought at 70p! No sorry JO has been in Wood Group and then out again quicker than you can turn out your night light. JO invested £100,000 and banked a nice profit of circa £11,500. That said, I purchased more Wood Group AM today but much less than my original investment as a punt at .5227p...as I'm keen to be in on the review. I have a hunch there may be an RNS update in time...and if not I'm sure the review will be far better than the market currently thinks. BTW If Wood Group reaches 70p, I'll sell...not buy!

PS. If you really did buy at Wood Group for 70p... then JG (Luke) you need to ask JO (Obiwan) for investment advice and/or price predictions before you buy, not after.

Just to add - based on the lower volumes of Wood Group shares traded so far today...there is no big sell off. That moment in time has passed. Now we wait for the review...then watch as everyone dives in (or out)!

We don't know if Franklins is out or not. If they are then the Wood Group share price should steadily increase from the current circa 50p-52p. However, there would be lots of current shareholders who topped up as it crashed by 60%, so may be too nervous to top up again. Of course it will be too late when this share price takes off...which it will do of course when either an RNS update is made or the review is out (which is likley to be a pass of sorts).

The institutional investor you refer to (i.e. Franklin) reduced their shareholding from 5.0% to 2.47%. Fact check, Franklin was not the only one selling on the back of the RNS...clearly.

My point is that the market will over-react whether the Wood Group review is positive, negative or nuetral. In fact if it is very bad the same institutional investor may drop from 2.47% holdings to zero, and be joined by many other investors. Hence my 'prediction of a low of 30p (review very bad), or a high of £1 (review OK to good).

Well it's always up to the market. On the RNS update, Wood Group dropped 60%...read that again 60% in ONE DAY! If the review is bad, believe me the market will drop the share price from the current circa 50p to 40p very easily, and from there it can test 30p before there is a fast recovery. It shouldn't happen...as long as the review is OK, in which case the sahre price should rocket to £1. All to play for here...for the lucky and the brave! I'm in now and will probably wait for the review. Fun and games!

Capita is no leaky ship. Not now. Certain investors are driving this share price down as low as possible (hence the scare tactic of large sell-off early AM today) in the full knowledge they can buy at such lows...way before the Capita results are known. Then when the Capita RNS results are released (with Capita's low debt figures etc.) then the share price will rise significantly. So 'winner winner chicken dinner'. Commonsense...not so common. All IMO after all what would JO know...?

An updated RNS would be great - even if it is clarification on when the review is likley to be completed. However, I doubt there will be any Wood Group RNS update until after the independent review has been completed and signed-off. If the review is OK (some write-offs but no major surprises) then this share price will take off like a rocket to £1 maybe more. No doubt about it. However, if the review is bad (serious write-offs etc), then this share price will likely drop to 40p or worse case to 30p.

That said Wood Group is a stable company with strong revenues, and therefore definately worth the punt.

As everyone here know JO is out of Capita for now. However, if anyone who think the next set of Capita results will be favourable (an investment in Capita at this price will definately be rewarded. If you have Capita shares, top up now and average down!

@SavageKeyboard. As usual you twist my words to suit your own warped narrative to de-ramp Capita. Given SK is a deisgruntled ex-employss of Capita that is no surprise.

The fact is I said the Capita share price would likley increase AFTER the next set of results, and more so 2-3 results thereafter. So investors can see that the skeletons are out of the cupboard. I also encourages invested here to not buy or add when it reached 21p (I knew it was over-cooked). That said, I'm out of Capita now, so none of it bothers me.

Hmmm, come to this of it, the Capita share price has fallen off a cliff since JO left. A mere coincidence? Maybe I'll jump on my white horse and gallop back in to Capita to save the day... now where is that draft email...

Nope...Wood Group is back on the rise today...it's too cheap to ignore.

As predicted (take note Aimless) Capita is now firmly in the 16p range...not that I'm calling the low (or high) yet. JO is tempted. Now where is my draft email to Capita's CEO...?

@Finley1 Good observation - Goldmans have increased Prudential buys from circa 1.6M shares to 2.3M shares for the last two successive days. Quite the jump - confirms Prudential is a bargain at the moment.

I doubt that directors can or should buy Wood Group shares as they must have 'inside' knowledge (either first or second hand) of the detail and scope of the specific issues which require independant review. If any directors buy shares now - they may have serious questions to answer down the track.

Any review has to be balanced, fair and transparent. It is likley that the review may have no adverse affect on Wood Group, and therefore the RNS could be 'much ado about nothing'. This will make today's Wood Group share price look like the 'sale of the century'!

Shorts or no shorts, director buys or no director buys, Wood Group is a still a bargain under 55p.
