There will not be a single therapy that acts as the ‘wonder drug’ for the whole population of COVID-19 sufferers - there needs to be a selection that work on the different levels of patient - light / moderate / severe etc and therapies that can work in different locations - in patient / out patient / home / care home.....
Everything I have researched suggests that Synairgen are approaching the trial in a professional way, robust recruitment and on boarding - no short cuts. The fact that there has been no ‘stop’ put on the trial suggests that results and data are being accumulated and will form part of the eventual analysis and conclusions.
Given the company’s previous work and trial findings we have comfort that moderate and severe asthma suffered gained clinical benefit from the Interfeon B when suffering cold or flu symptoms. Given that COVID-19 initially attacks the lungs - attacking the virus ‘in loco’ should be a priority - anecdotal evidence suggests it’s when the lung function is overtaken that the other vital organs gradually worsen the patient’s position and further lines of defence are required.
If the latest news is actually highlighting another therapy it changes nothing in my eyes. SNG needs to deliver a really solid set of clinical results and thats the priority in order to deliver a safe and effective therapy. Again, we need to see a range of treatments coming through - there will be more than a single ‘winner’ here.
Right now I still believe - the team had a plan and strategy and I’ve heard nothing to suggest that they are not executing to that. Although it’s AIM I’m still seeing this as an investment rather than just a punt!
GLA and thanks for reading!!
Good shake out going on here - the absence of information leads to nervousness from the more fragile investors (traders)....meanwhile in the background the SNG team will be putting together all the solid presentation material for the agencies and regulators. I think right now silence is golden!
The following was on the WHO twitter thread about 30 mins ago - not sure link will work:-
There is currently no evidence that people who have recovered from #COVID19 and have antibodies are protected from a second infection.

Think these CPAP machines are being adapted to push oxygen into the lungs - ordinary CPAP machines just force air through, primarily to stop the soft tissue at the back of the throat from collapsing and closing ( the collapsed soft tissue enables the snore! )
Governments obviously need a coherent treatment strategy before really loosening lockdown - ie different levels of therapy or device that can be deployed along the patient infection timeline. Whilst vaccine is the ultimate game changer that could be a long time away and economically the world cannot wait forever! Trouble is following this share at the moment there is so much expectation - we know the team is absolutely doing this the right way, waiting for the trials data to seal all of the background work that has gone on for years.
I think the interesting aspect is that his underlying condition is pancreatitis and breathing difficulties is not a usual symptom - so once Covid 19 diagnosed he would be treated for the breathing issue he described in the interview - as Bristol RI is a test hospital isn’t it likely that he was given the Synairgen interferon B rather than a standard asthma treatment?
