Wierdpal, I think we all agree that BP has not performed as we might have expected but £10 was always going to be unattainable. Personally I fully expected the share price to be straddling the £5 mark by now and its a poor reflection on the BOD that we are struggling to break through £4

I gat that the Rosneft holding could cloud the waters somewhat, however, if everything bp have said is factual and they are still trying to find a buyer for the Rosneft assets then there is still a real prospect of this yielding several billions for shareholders. Maybe I'm missing something here but I can't see how a potential buyer would want to loose that. I do see that politically it might be problematic but perhaps not for much longer.

I accept your point about sentimentality entirely however, what makes you think that shareholders could achieve value with a bid now when the stock price is so weak, it wouldn't be of interest to many lth's who currently may be looking at a 25% paper loss. I cannot imagine any bid would eradicate that. Surely the BOD needs to get their act together in the best interests of ALL shareholders and work to get the stock price somewhere nearer to £5 before entertaining any 'buy on the cheap' bid. We've been in a downward trajectory since July and it's difficult to know what is needed to reverse the trend.

My suggestion would be abandon buybacks immediately and get debt down substantially as a priority.

I do see that some sound investment decisions are finally been made which is a positive step.

Where will it be by Christmas ???

Petronas, I've never been an exponent os share buybacks because in real terms it puts nothing in the pockets of ordinary shareholders. I also think the practice of issuing countless new shares like a conveyor belt to directors should have a complete moratorium until the BOD sort out the bloody mess they have made of the company. If there's £15bn available then get rid of the high debt burden. Buybacks have done zilch for the share price and gobbled up countless billions that could have been better utilised investing in new projects to generate better cash flow and roi to get the share price back near £5. I cannot see any improvement with the current board in charge sadly.

I would argue that oil is not declining and will be heavily relied upon for another 25 years. Renewable energy is in its infancy, and critically our national grid is barely able to cope so can you imagine if oil taps were turned off???

Interesting development Shell and Equinor merging North Sea assets on a 50/50 basis. Must see cost saving advantages. I wonder if they had looked at a bp hook up ?

Better daze it happens with monotonous regularity with early day gains wiped out when us market opens although I have to admit that quite recently I've noticed that the price has dropped before us market so maybe daytraders have gotten wise. The way I look at it is simple, daily movements are irrelevant because I'm not selling.

As I understand it it is very much an accounting issue and bp are still trying to sell the assets, however it is very complicated for obvious reasons, and everything will depend on the final war settlement terms. All in my opinion only.

Meoryou we are certainly proactive with many new initiatives which offers reassurance for the future. I just wish we could see some of that positivity reflected in the share price

Yet another bit of positive and very welcome news for long term stability although I'm not sure if it will put a bit of impetus into the shambolic stock price. Hopefully there will be stability in the region to safeguard the investment
