Investrat, buybacks havnt actually achieved very much and put nothing in the pockets of small investors. They should stop this nonsense immediately and concentrate on sensible debt reduction. In addition, halt the relentless issue if new shares and compensate staff with appropriate salaries instead. As for the senior board of directors they should be denied any shares while the performance of the stock price is so horrendous. They should be ashamed of the way the business is being run under their pathetic stewardship and bugger off enmass.

Meoryou I think it's going to be challenging to get our Rosneft stake back. If you look at what Europe has done with Russian assets, basically stolen billions of generated profits and diverted this to Ukraine (or so they tell us)

I fully expect Russia will do exactly the same.

Are these shares doled out to directors regardless of the performance of the share price. On the never ending of buybacks what have buybacks done for us, the share price has tanked

Cong, Auson has told you correctly, although I do see where you are coming from having spent more that the current debt value on buybacks you could be forgiven for thinking they might actually return some value to us shareholders. The buyback programme has been worthless to ordinary shareholders in real terms and on a less polite platform I might have used an expletive. Shareholders are getting hacked off with the board decisions and lack of any directional confidence.

Oil price is being manipulated like the goatherd in the sound of mucous. Only the players are Biden, Opec,Shorters and geopolital instability. It's a minefield trying to second guess what will happen next with a further retaliation from Iran likely to be the catalyst . No disrespect to the technical analysis posted by some very clever posters on this board. In the interest of total transparency i really dont understand most of it. Have a good day everyone

WP the reality unfortunately is that we have far too much debt, currently $23bn plus the outstanding balance still owing from gom which is roughly another $7bn and we will be paying that down until end of 2031 so we're not that attractive to be blunt and our uk assets are taxed so high there not much value anymore. Bottom line is i think £5 is a bit of a stretch. Just my view.
