I think BP lost its way and buckled under pressure from interference from HM Gov ministers who have absolutely no clue how to run a business having never worked a day in their pointless lives the consequences of that was a headlong rush to plough billions of our cash into unproven renewables. On the other hand I do like some of the recent partnership investments which should give promising results. End of year figures will be interesting.

I wholeheartedly agree Theaky, we must expect to be down today with the dividend funds flowing out. However the share price now is looking desperate and reflects the foolishness of the fiscal decisions the board have made.

I also acknowledge that there has been a few positive steps taken recently but these have had no positive impact on the share price unfortunately. We can only hope that the buyback madness ceases and dividend reinstated that's if they are serious about shareholder returns.

Meoryou this is a bit like my garden leaves blower, I manage to get most of it captured only the wind comes along and blows them away again. It seems to me that we've already bought and paid for these shares and now we will spend 3 months as Jimothy rightly pointed out buying them back all over again. This is farsical

232,600,000 (two hundred and thirty two million,six hundred thousand) shares have been taken out of cashiers drawer for distribution to directors. That seriously grates with me given the performance of the share price currently

Theaky, this is what the board laughingly refer to as "returning value to shareholders ' well I'd like to ask Mr Auchinloss how does he thing that's working out ?

This is a laughing stock and I've argued on this board countless times that the share buyback process is a complete failure.

We need to see a complete moratorium on both buybacks and new share issues until they fix the dividend robbery and no bonuses to be paid to underperformed board members with immediate effect
