Denby, I do agree, however the new administration in Washington appears unwilling to continue to spend billions of usa taxpayers money funding what they see as a European problem. That presumably leaves NATO but they seem to have lost all credibility and are unwilling to engage with Russia. Trump is also raising questions about what the function of NATO now is in real terms. If they accepted Ukraine as full members they know they will be forced to fight so that isn't going to happen while this conflict is going on. I think Biden decision to allow long range missiles to be fired into Russia was a mistake because it has weakened Trumps negotiating hand.
