Jeffrey 1979, at the risk of offending others on the board who hold an alternate view, the only thing that will move the sp forward and sustain that level is the reinstatement of the dividend. Apologies to anyone who doesn't agree but buybacks are not putting any cash in my pocket

Ideally I would like to see it back at precovid levels and get some real money back to the investors, even if that is achieved at the cost of suspension of the buyback process which with great respect to fellow posters, has done very little to move the stock price upward in my opinion.

Will that happen ? No I do not think it will sadly I believe they will stick to the existing formula and probably uplift by 10% in early February.

Of course I accept that buybacks have taken millions of shares out of thr equation but look at the cost and realistically what has it done for the share price ?

If I accept the argument made by fellow posters the buybacks have supported the sp, but I have to ask where would the sp be today if the billions had been used for diverse investments.

I genuinely believe the key to increased sp is getting the dividend back to precovid level.

Hi Spights, This board is rather volatile presently sadly, bit I suspect its mainly due to the level of frustration with the lackluster share price. I think its time our board and new ceo had a complete rethink of their interpretation of "returning value to shareholders " ditch the buyback programme (which has cost billions and done nothing for the sp) and reinstate the dividend to its precovid level, then watch the sp take flight.

Meoryou don't let the arrogance of a few (and we know who they are) ruin an otherwise excellent board.

We're at home in Norfolk atm, so overcast and damp like most of the country unfortunately. Only redeeming feature is that it's not too cold in uk just now.

Thanks Meoryou, I don't spend much time in uk these days but always like to read the interesting posts from everyone. I'm still invested here and hope that we see positive momentum in share price and dividend uplift on results day.

Meoryou, I've never been a fan of buybacks, as for small investors I just don't see the reward.

If you add up the billions spent to date on buybacks it's a staggering amount, so why isn't the share price moving as a result., or is it the case that without the massive buyback total the sp would be a fraction of the current price... its an interesting conundrum, but give me enhanced dividend anyway.

Harmonica if this does lead to a substantial drop in the stock price I can see the litigious minds in the USA preparing legal action to recoup losses.

Tinker, yes 10% uplift to dividend is welcome, unfortunately with £/$ exchange rate at 1.28 all the uplift is eroded

I do agree that the results will be lacklustre in comparison with previous qtrs. The only thing that might avoid a setback in the share price in my opinion would be a substantive uplift to the dividend.

Meoryou, Selecta6, I absolutely agree that the dividend is now the main reason our ao is lagging so badly and its something Mr Looney (flushed with an extra £5m in his back pocket) needs to address. I'm guessing they reduced the volume of buybacks to fund the gom disaster annual payment which falls due shortly. I see the level of frustration by many posters on the board is high, and I fully understand the reasons, but I am confident we will return to well north of £5.50 in the near term.

Hi Meoryou & Spights, sorry havnt posted, got kinda into holiday mode but back to reality at weekend. Been keeping an eye on the board, and in particular the 'Numpties' that are jeopardising our investment by trying to force their will against the stated policy of the company.
It will be a very interesting day tomorrow and hopefully these idiots will be defeated. Have a good day
