So, another well thought out and insightful post from GJL9.
That has given many here plenty to ponder.

This afternoon we have written to the CWU urging them to call off next weeks IA in light of our commitments on:

No compulsory redundancy
Removing temporary/Agency staff in the event that strikes are called off.

We welcome the fact that the CWU has greed to meet, and we are in contact with ACAS regarding arrangements. We urge the CWU to come to these talks with a genuine desire to call off the strikes, and we look forward to hearing what they have to say.

The letter goes on to say that the commitment to no compulsory redundancy will not form any part of an agreement with the CWU

Would this include the pay rise of 2%? That was all we were getting! That's changed.
Would this include compulsory Sunday working and loss of allowances? That's changed.
Would this include compulsory redundancy? That's changed. You must be gutted!
Would this include start and finish times? That's changed. And will change even more.

Yeah. I'm looking forward to all these reforms.

It's mandatory. But because the job is so easy, i expect the uptake will be 100%. And we will have clear offices, nationally.

Just a small snippet from a letter sent out and signed by the our great leaders. 9 signatures. Thompson, Noon, McPherson, Brown, Newman, Hall, Briers, Bailey, Landon.

The changes we need to make to this business will NOT involve ANY compulsory redundancies. Royal Mail has not used compulsory redundancy before. And we're not going to start now.

When did that change? Have i missed something?

Leaving for home early? I guess you've heard about SISO? Your good friend Maximas1 keeps banging on about clocking in and out. I'm not sure how this resonates with agreed overtime. I believe there can be a local agreement on this if you guarantee to cover whole duties, as opposed to extending.

And in that one sentence you have told everyone here that the strikes are working.
It smacks of sheer desperation by Royal Mail. It wouldn't matter if delivery was free. The Recipients still won't get their items!
The "RYDE" drivers are boasting that they are getting over 20 quid an hour to sit around drinking coffee on Sundays.
Even the agency staff that i see and speak to, think RYDE are useless.
