The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
Morning all,
Hope you have a great weekend, and do not worry unduly about this.
Time for a break for me and the family, so off to the lakes for a week, so hoping I can get some internet connection to check the SP next week.
Dunnieboy,
It appears we have roughly the same position with this stock. I am not worried, and this will come good. None of the really big investors, or the new team (already in place) will want to lose / fail.
Gaspunter,
I must have 3/4 of a brain, but then again, I did manage to retire quite comfortably at the age of 52. If I had tried to use my brain more, perhaps I could have done it sooner! Each to their own.
Good Luck to all.
Morning All,
I tend to agree with the positive comments on this thread about the individuals involved and their own investments. I have made similar reference previously. In addition, if the algobots keep doing their thing, we may see the SP around the 50p mark on prior to results day, to "prove" the last placing as being accurate (just offering as guess, nothing more). After that, it will all depend on the news provided. Still here, still LTI. Good Luck to all.
55.87p average.
Started at 75p!!!

Thank you for sharing. I wish you all the luck in the world.
Many thanks JT, and all the best for tomorrow. Ma Ironside went in to Hull RI before the lockdown and had her first eye done. Absolutely fantastic results. Just awaiting the return match!
da
I am still in for the same reasons I have mentioned in earlier posts.
May not be scientific, but still holds true for me.
I agree with your comments personally in this thread, and although I am in the red on this stock, it is almost exactly what the placing brought.
Still LTI unless some very big wheel come off!
Thanks JT.
Think I may have a cider as well!!!
got excited then!!!! sorry
It looks like someone is not waiting! They have bought nearly a million and a half shares!!! (Not me).
@3300
Be careful digging your heels in, they could become stuck, or cause an injury.
If I have my own grip on things, I can always let go (not that they would know or care I was there!)
Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle?
Okay all you science buffs out there!
There is a point to this, in that there is uncertainty about this stock at this time.
Usually I base everything on information and intelligence to start the process of making my decisions.
Here, this is somewhat difficult, but you work with what you have!?!?
What don’t we know?
As many of you have pointed out on other threads, we do not know the strategy being employed, or the effect of Brexit, a possible second Covid wave, US / China tensions, F1 next year, EVs, aliens landing in Skegness!
What do we think we know?
Sales figures???? Someone managing the SP at this time???
What do we want to know?
All of the above.
What do we know?
There is a very strong and successful team being built around this brand. More appointments to come.
However, with my height, weight, and grip, am I willing to hang on to their coat tails for the ride? Yes I am (for now anyway). In my previous career, I looked for strong management, and surrounded myself with competent and effective staff.
This is one of the most interesting stock I have bought. I have never even bothered with forums before, but this one is definitely different (in a good way – mostly, and you make your own judgements anyway). If you think not, have a look at the ADVFN chat site!!! It makes this look like the United Nations!

I have to agree that I too have no idea what Stroll is up to.
However, I do think that it will come good – I just do not know the time frames!
I have no way as much as you have riding on this, but as with everyone, I wish them all well, and hope that we all get something out of it.
With regards to going private, I can see the rationale of driving the share price down, and then it should cost less to buy out the shareholders. I do not know if this is the case though. From previous inputs on other threads, this would be based to an extent on prices over 12 months (but I do not know enough myself, and have not researched the matter).
Takeover? Again, if that were to happen, we just need to see what it is in it for some individuals who have bought in apparently at higher prices than the placing etc. Or am I being simplistic and naïve?
With regards to another dilution, again, only the ones in the know will be privy to this, and then the question will be whether the placing is higher or lower (I am sure there was a game show with this premise, where you could win or lose!!!)
The thing that still resonates with me is the fact that there are many individuals / organisations involved with AML now, who are not used to losing money or reputation. Surely there are here for a reason!
I do not understand waves / candles / crystal balls etc., but I am sticking with what I have and hope to see a rise in value over time.
If the price drops for any of the above reasons mentioned (private or placing), then if I was big investor friend of Mr Stroll, I would be worried, unless I knew the bigger picture. I do not see Toto or the others just helping another rich man to achieve his aims. If they start pulling out, then the whole scenario takes a turn…
If this is just to get Stroll Jr into F1 big time, then he is a very loving father!
Not sure this helps, but I am probably as confused as everyone!!!
@JT, thanks for this.
I fell surprisingly calm with all this. Especially if not many shorters left.
Managed to get back in on the low today similar to WG.
Hoping that the stock does not want to really go beyond the 10% lower than the placing, but you never know.
Funny old market this one!
In for the LT.
@MJP075 - thanks for the response to @da95649. I would have but had dinner with the family.
Having read the court papers, there is not mention of the individual alluded to by @da95649 that I can see (only skimmed it!)
If there had been any indictment / conviction, I have no doubt hat the individual would not have been able to become a board member some years later, or then subsequently involve them self in F1 or one of the big commercial finance operations in the automotive industry!
His current profile looks quite excellent to me.
You get what you get!
Hi All,
New to this (after a 30 year gap!) and have read this thread with interest over the last few weeks.
I am a retired and small time investor (the latter probably due to boredom from the former).
Granted there are things going on that we do not know about (unless someone here has not declared on here?), HOWEVER, this is my take, and happy to be shot down…
There are some big players / individuals involved here who have come in at what looks like a high price compared to today.
There are also some big institutions on board, who may well have got a head start – but I m sure they knew what they were getting into (nudge nudge).
None of these people (in my opinion) are in the business of losing money or reputation. They will all wan to see a return on investment. Even the richest do not want to lose money. I am sure there is a much bigger picture to this, but it is just that we may not be able to see it yet! Like anything, all good things come in time (quote from the wife!)
The devil is in the detail, and the placing definitely caught people out, and the little flutterings today when the large amount of stock went out.
The new non exec board member Michael de Picciotto has 4 million shares. He has waived his rights to his board fee as far as I can see. Nobody does something for nothing.
I appreciate all the comments by others (well most that address the business position anyway).
Not sure IMHO there is much room for a short term win here (unless you have buckets of money and nerves of steel), and I was always in this for the longer term. Just getting my average down to low 50’s.
However, if you can make something short term, then good luck. I have neither the patience, the stomach or the money!
If it goes up, win win, if it goes down lose lose (but not that much in the great scheme of life in my case).
Those with big holdings – I take my hat off to you. I would not have the….
I wish you all the very best, and that we all take something away from this.
