Oh I don’t think our masters need get involved in the vaguaries of playing GKP Stock to maintain their 8 digit Swizz accounts, they have much more direct access to the spoils from Kurdistan’s hydrocarbons produce.
The mystery remains as to why they continue to allow small oilers to bumble along producing a fraction of what their assets are capable of - or are they afraid of taking on the legal and commercial might of Big Oil ?

I don’t think we will be allowed to make substantial profits as our masters will of course demand their personal cuts, approval of the interminally delayed FDP will have it’s price (or it won’t be signed off), any sale or farmout will of course have a price tag…. I think we must face up to how things are and will continue to be run around here, and price the pilferring in to all lookaheads as a matter of fact.
Having accepted that - I must say that things are looking much more positive than I can remember since the glory days of Tod’s hype campaign.

The future appears to have the potential to become rosier then, but what confuses me is - why our masters don’t push us to bump up our production at all costs to give them their personal rights to skinoff from a much, much larger pie ?
Perhaps the indigenous population have drawn a line in the sand in an attempt to put a stop to their pilferring ?

The pure fact that these awesomely clever people in the Finance Houses are even hanging around still - makes me think that ultimately something worth waiting for may indeed be on the distant horizone (just the small matter of brown envelopes to swing the deal of course).

zac: BB and new issues ….. what exactly is the strategy behind using our working capital to buyback, then issuing new shares in the same breath ?
Wouldn’t that money have been more prudently spent on selective acquisitions or dividends or ……. whatever ?

On reflection, an alternatve strategy to going apeshoot with a rampant green acquisitions campaign - would of course be to pay off a ( tax optimumised ) amount of debt. as interest rates post C19 will probably be heading North.
How much of BP’s debt is fixed interest I wonder ?
As I haven’t a clue as to BP’s fixed/variable debt ratios, let alone the effects of paying them down to reduce our tax liability - but am sure there those on here who can have a stab at it.

Agreed - conspicuous profits and turbocharged dividends will fuel this coming Winter of consumer discontent, I bet Bernard is looking to go on an acquisitions spree to dull things down a bit.

My concern exactly Vis ….. time to sanction building several new neuk stations to address the coming surge in demand - the build lead time on these is at least 7 years, so time for Boris and his Boys to focus on a greener energy viable furure to meet any 2030 promises (even although the Cons will probably be in oposition come commissioning time).

OPU Not sure if our masters will want to wait that long (surprised they have let us continue miss-managing their asset so far) - their only dilema is: do they continue with little GKP (whom they can control, manipulate and coerce at will ) or do they flip us out and invite in a serious IOC who will the technical expertise and financial muscle to jack up production forthwith - but will not be party to continuing with any monkey business - or collars will be felt by serious legal teams and any hint of rakeoffs will be widely and openly exposed.
Bit of a dilema for them there then.

OK the 200 Bil dinars are in from Baghdad ……. but how much of it will actually find its way down to the population - after the handling and signing fees are deducted ?

BP SP seem to be detached from any movement in our two prinicipal commodities.
Poor Looney is up against a tough struggle to get us accepted as a company doing its very best to move away from dirty oil (and less dirty gas) into a purveyor of clean energy.
Maybe time to seek government approval to fund a new nuke power station ??
