The more I read into the benefits to SHELL of taking BP out of its era of incompetence - the more I think that Wael won’t let this rescue opportunity pass by.

He’s a very smart cookie - and just needs to time things correctly to pick up a competitor with dovetailing assets, plenty of inbuilt technical competence, and suffering under a confused management which appears to be floundering.

Agreed Harm …. I hope that another very professionaly, well-managed oiler like (TOTAL) would enter the fray….. and the bidding would be stimulated.

Hope you’re correct there West - but unfortunately The Markets just see a mis-managed company, drowning in debt, reversing business policy mid-stream, holding a mountain of bought-back shares (purchased at huge cost to the company - but for what ?), hopefully a target for takeover by some savvy competitors …. then we might, just might get some value back.

Correct there HGN - as long as the horrendously wealthy local rulers are coining it in, who cares about what the doormat population are missing out on.

Error: BP has bought back only 500 Mil. (Or 0.5 Bil.) stagnant shares in treasury !

Only $10 Bil. to clear the GoA debt :) prior to a takeover.

Would they take Treasury Shares ?

BP’s wise BoD have stockpiled 50 Bil. of them - for just this sort of contingency (surely ?).

Hope the UK government (who have stood by and watched BP crash) don’t now stand in the way if a professionally managed National oil Company like SHELL or TOTAL are willing to step in, pick up the pieces, remove the non-performers, and show how it’s done.

Wael busy back then cancels the shares immediately (check out his daily RNSs).

Our lot have tied up £3.50 X 500,000,000 ‘in their treasury’ , doing nothing for us naive shareholders.

Presumably these treasures are earmarked to be awarded….and resurected as voting shares in the name of the deserving recipients ?

This needs explaining and justification by MA and his bean counters damned soon.

The idea is to break Russia financialy by removing Putin’s cash cow which finances his current (and future plans) to invade further innocent neighbouring countries.

Trump should wise up - and embargo ALL countries and companies buying oil and gas from the little tyrant.

Result: Russian population will suffer further, truth will out, and Putin will be removed from the gene pool.

All Russian military who were involved with crimes against humanity - will face retribution.

Hi Primetime - as I understand it, the half Billion ! treasures have no voting rights while held ‘in treasury’ - but presumeably when they are dished out to the lucky recipients as rewards - they will have.

They are said to be held as protection against ‘hostile bids’ meanwhile.

I think most of us WANT any bid from whoever (to get this slaughtery of the SP moving upwards).

The CEO and CFO have had minor self awards recently - many many more to be awarded soon, I trust ?

We mustn’t forget to add on the charges for late payment (at ?%) - which is surely defined in the contract(s) ??

Will our BoD Invent/ issue a bunch of new shares to great the latest awards to themselves for stellar performancies ?

Shell much more pragmatic - here’s what they do ( and the SP is recovering solidly in proportion):

Not such a bad performer - just poorly managed by seriously wealthy under performers.

I think we saw this coming.

Accumulating over 1/2 billion shares when our company is an industry joke - is not wise management.

Then laughing at us by distributing them out to themselves is criminal.

More handouts coming surely -to award for failure .

How can we demand recourse before all 1/2 billion of their treasures get squandered among themselves ?
