@retirement, If you’ve ever been in a GT6 (and others from that period) – you’d know what driving is – there are no servo assisted brakes, no power steering, a 6 pot 2litre lump gralling at you . The need to double the clutch and fear of loosing your rear end if you don’t power around the corners. Now – I have a friend who is a retired driving examiner who pestered me to take it out two summers ago – he never fears being with other drivers – but shat his pants and told me to slow down ,,,, I was only doing 40mph. - you feel everything and it fits you like a glove ; its not some computer controlled euro box.

You dont need to drive fast to fear for your life. While out driving some plonker in a porche came around the corner at us - and nearly lost it - it would have killed us both.

@Iamhoping, liking the shape – I can understand that I have a GT6 because I like the shape, and often wear tight shorts, whip up a bucket of bubbly foam and smear it all over to wash it (me and the car)- in the privacy of my garage - im kinky. I rarely take it out on the roads - fear of meeting someone like retirement coming the other way and not being able to handle their car . ;)

I see so many Porches on the roads these days, they strike me, to be the sort of car for sheeple who want to look young again- yet are aging badly , not to mention that they are no more 'fun' than most cars since they are all restricted to maximum speed of 70mph on public highways. I’m so rich that I have time on my hands to travel at a sensible speed whereby I can enjoy the views , drive safely and see little need to whizz passed people hoping that they somehow see me , recognise me and comment on how ‘cool’ I must be. But then again – I raced hovercrafts so understand what true excitement, exhilaration and being in touch the vehicle and its destiny can be .

@retirement, I understand now, and thank you for having subtly offered that tip, and by no stretch of the imagination laboured the point endless, for what might feel like some until the end of time, repeatedly, endlessly ,boringly

I’m not very good at picking up on subtlety so if you could convey these tips more clearer in future Id appreciate it . The pleasure has , in this instance , been all yours.

@retirment, I’m very confused by your logic. You state that people on an RR focused forum are sheep, and just following the herd on a board about RR.

Then you keep quoting MKS ,as if we all should stop being sheep and instead follow you across to MKS . - where by we would become sheep.

Very confusing logic,. The word oxymoron is on the tip of my tongue , but with less emphasis of the former syllable

@ ColinJ806, I don’t normal comment on FRES, but saw your post. If you are holding for long term - the large 1oz coins usually give you a cheaper purchase price than fractional amounts . If you are in the UK then buy UK coins if you want to be CGT free when selling. BUT - if like me - you plan to off load them a few a year- when you get older and hence not bothered about capital gains tax - you could buy some cheaper maple leafs or even small bars – which are cheaper too.

So - think about when you are going to sell - and how much at a time, and do you care about CGT

Spent the weekend watching differing peoples opinions on the youtubes about what occurred on Thursday Friday regarding Silver/ Gold, (felix,, clive thompson etc). There seems be a general concensous - 1. Monday will be crazy, 2. This is a paper market issue 3) the new fed guy used to be a sound money guy / strong dollar,, but of late has changed his views on that, 4) accusations that JP Morgan ‘used’it to clear a bunch of shorts. 5) Miners are still not over priced even at this price level for gold or silver . Going to be a strange Monday for metals GLA those invested in miners etc

Just finished watching that video Timmy, Wow - I knew a lot of work went into them - but didn’t realise just how much into detail. So happy that they are still made here in the UK, and what really hit me; watching that video - is the number of young, cleanly presented people working there - so often the ‘youff’ get written off as being lazy and not interested in work. Also the number of women working on them - again the narrative more often is that women don’t work in engineering 'cos its a mans subject'. Great video, really interesting to see the detail.

@Hawki2s, I've made the same mistake many times- getting my phrases wrong :) I don’t think Bernie was seriously laughing at you - he's always come across as a mild kind of chap. Often people on forums project their own feelings on to other peoples replies. Just laugh and say - oh yeah - LOL . We all do it (written with warm intensions) . Cev is the one to watch out for – He’ll lay into you for the simplest mis-spelling or punctuation :)
