@Stayingpatient, fantastic. I had a chavette - so I can imagine what yours was like. Really enjoyed that lifting feeling from the back when they set off.

My first car was an 850 little brown mini - with no brakes (they leaked and I couldnt afford to fix them for ages)- went on holiday in the dales - up and down, up and down,,,,, pumped the brakes and poo'd my pants a few times :)

Fantastic – I sometimes drive over to Galloway to do the same. Shame there are people who have never really seen the night sky due to light pollution. I first saw it at 17 (when i got a car) - such a moment to remember.

@retirement, If you’ve ever been in a GT6 (and others from that period) – you’d know what driving is – there are no servo assisted brakes, no power steering, a 6 pot 2litre lump gralling at you . The need to double the clutch and fear of loosing your rear end if you don’t power around the corners. Now – I have a friend who is a retired driving examiner who pestered me to take it out two summers ago – he never fears being with other drivers – but shat his pants and told me to slow down ,,,, I was only doing 40mph. - you feel everything and it fits you like a glove ; its not some computer controlled euro box.

You dont need to drive fast to fear for your life. While out driving some plonker in a porche came around the corner at us - and nearly lost it - it would have killed us both.

@Iamhoping, liking the shape – I can understand that I have a GT6 because I like the shape, and often wear tight shorts, whip up a bucket of bubbly foam and smear it all over to wash it (me and the car)- in the privacy of my garage - im kinky. I rarely take it out on the roads - fear of meeting someone like retirement coming the other way and not being able to handle their car . ;)

I see so many Porches on the roads these days, they strike me, to be the sort of car for sheeple who want to look young again- yet are aging badly , not to mention that they are no more 'fun' than most cars since they are all restricted to maximum speed of 70mph on public highways. I’m so rich that I have time on my hands to travel at a sensible speed whereby I can enjoy the views , drive safely and see little need to whizz passed people hoping that they somehow see me , recognise me and comment on how ‘cool’ I must be. But then again – I raced hovercrafts so understand what true excitement, exhilaration and being in touch the vehicle and its destiny can be .
