@Timmy, ( It's a bit like the way some people in the South of England view those living "up North" as backward and uncivilised, unable to understand when they speak English with those funny accents —a broad and inaccurate generalisation.)

We in the north, have mastered the art of pretending to be backward , uncivilised and speaking with a strange accent around southerners so as to deter those with 4 porches, from every considering moving north - unfortunately some do still consider moving here - and we just have to grin and bare it, but we don’t start a war about it . I'll add to that , having been to London recently - it would seem they are now the ones with the strange accents, backward ways and lack of understanding about British culture :)

@badlands, I unfortunately no longer have the link to the telegraph article, BUT there are also people who know how to game the system- The article exposed individuals who where having their total 60K income paid directly into their pension - via salary sacrifice ,,, and because that gave them zero income - they were then claiming benefits to live on. The system is in need of a change . [sorry if to make your blood boil more] :)

@bav1975, You are correct in suggesting people think / consider their position regarding the welfare state.

Point being - not accruing full NI contributions - I know a couple of people who get pension credit top up - and just receiving 1p pension credit opens up so many more opportunities to them and gives them more income (in effect) than those who don’t receive it yet have a tiny works pension).

This is just getting reDICKulĂRSE now , I give up. Time to cash in , convert to gold coins and go on benefits.

I'm so glad this website has such strong filtering , god forbid that some CÙNT could type FÙCK or BÙGGER and have it appear on screen ;o)
