RE: Land grab5 Sep 2025 14:02
Isn’t it a question of timing. It took what has seemed like forever before SAV said enough is enough and that, giving due notice, they were heading down the legal route to take control of the land they need. That is obviously underway now.
I always remember the build up to the second Gulf War as the necessary forces were gathered together to a point that it was inevitable no matter what demos or antis spoke up in the various Parliaments around the world. There would hardly have been any sense going into Iraq too early and underprepared.
The extended time and Being a ‘resident’ whilst getting a full picture of the resource, whilst the extended supply chain developed for refining, batteries and car making - whilst making the mining ever more important for the national economy, is now at that tipping point and would be very hard to row back from.
I would feel you can be firm in resolve to get to the objective, being fair and amenable to justifiable argued concerns, encouraging support by being a reliable, steadfast partner, accepting that there will always be some who simply disagree but who’s intransigence becomes recognised by the wider majority. Jumping in sooner with a heavier hand would alienate a greater percentage and potentially make life eve more difficult. None of us want that.
