Gem Diamonds Holdings Ltd holds 9,325,000 shares. I presume they are one and the same.

I also suspect "Gem Diamonds Holdings Ltd" provides 'services' to Gem Diamonds - beefing up Elphicks $0.5m Gem Diamonds salary.

Though I agree with your proposal that historically the company has been milked.

It has made a large amount of money over the years and almost none of it has filtered through to ordinary shareholders.

I also note that 'Sustainable Capital Ltd' have relatively quickly come from nowhere to be the largest shareholders @ 22%.

In the last 10 years the company has had a cumulative post tax profit of $268m ie > $0.25m billion!
But the cumulative financial year profit (the bit available for shareholders) has been - $48m !

The last dividend was for 2015! ( 5 cent + special 3.5 cents on their $52m regular shareholder profit )

Could this explain the market cap of £66m ?

I agree that it is a 'Diamond mine' in the metaphorical sense for someone - but not shareholders.

I'm interested in GEMD but I'm not clear in whose interests the company is run. I'm not clear that a good year for GEMD would be a good year for GEMD shareholders. Last year they made a headline profit of $15.1m but by the time various tranches were creamed off by 'non controlling interests' only $2.6m was available for regular shareholders. At the interims profit was $1.8m of which £0.2 was attributable to regular shareholders

They also have loans to be be repaid by the end of 2020 associated with the defunct Ghaghoo operation.

I fear they will disappoint before they delight
