Off topic / just a s personal opinion/ thought for today ...
Guy Martin did quite a good program on electric cars last night ..
Advantages : simpler more powerful engines.
Disadvantages : poor range, very poor charging/refueling options and just as expensive to power, batteries a serious fire hazard.
If the problem with electric cars could be sorted out they would be a good option, Though I don't buy that they are greener. Off the production line they are are already 20,000 miles in the hole in terms of the resources required to manufacture them. In my part of the world they would be COAL POWERED. If people seriously want to be green they'd need to embrace nuclear.
More generally while I believe we are wrecking the planet ( razing forests to the ground for agriculture etc, wanton consumption, habitat destruction) I think climate change is a nonsense. It started off as global freezing, then it changed to global warming, when neither were obviously true it changed again to climate change - can't argue with that.
I certainly don't buy the 'carbon' agenda. It was first mooted by Goldman Sachs. Top slice any transaction that involves carbon and it becomes a HUGE opportunity to make money and exercise population control. Give scientists a grant to study something on your behalf and they will come up with the result that you want - just ask big pharma. The term 'science' is used very loosely here - it is a black magic ****tail of unproven models, extrapolation and conjecture.
If I did buy the carbon agenda - GLOBAL LIVESTOCK PRODUCE MORE CARBON EMISSIONS THAN GLOBAL CARS! So the number one item on the agenda should be eliminating meat consumption. This is not happening. In places like China meat consumption is going through the roof (in fact the Chinese seem to intent on wiping out most species, pangolins, rhinos, whatever)
