I was having these exact thoughts. Take the ‘loss’ in this tax year before shifting £20k each into mine & my wifes stocks ISA’s. Therefore thanking the loss in the fund & share account, yet the eventual gain tax free in ISAS?

Surely it can’t be that simple? HMRC hate missing out on that much collective revenue if everyone does the same?

I’ll be seeking proper advice next week in any case, but it would certainly be interesting to hear others opinions, especially those who have been investing a number of years & use this or a similar mechanism

It is almost 5 years to the day where the whole stock market went into a nosedive due to COVID.

I imagine, most, with hindsight, would've loved to have jumped right in towards the bottom of the dip, a chance that rarely comes along. Are we seeing a similar opportunity with JD again? Maybe.

The consumer (in the U.K. for sure) is slowly moving away from Nike (I know, stating the obvious) but there are so many good/better options available now. Of which JD has all/most.

JD alone can be the whole Nike wholesale decline in itself!

Traditionally the JD SP has been tied to Nike somewhat, it shouldn’t be tied so closely still IMO, however this baked in tradition is hard to shake. It’ll take time.

Nike now down 4%+ in after hours trading. 🤦🏻‍♂️

If JD lifts even after this news tomorrow, it’s on a great trajectory….

Footasylum UK only, yes, but this news is very much welcomed in the territory JD had previously reported a slight decline. FA are the closest comparable to JD in the UK, hence the reason the CMA ruled JD must sell FA a number or years ago. Shame we couldnt keep it :(

VERY poor communication from a top tier company in my opinion. Either shows they don’t care….or more worryingly, aren’t confident of being held to a pre-announced date.

the only buffet he is familiar with is a queue for the sausage rolls.....

there will be dips, and he'll be back, but confident the overall trend is upwards over the next 12-18 months, that is what holding long is all about, steady nerves.....zoom out and see the bigger picture. :)

Absolutely I’m buying! Every penny that crosses my path whilst JD stays under £1 is going into purchasing shares here.

Don’t need it back for 2-3 years…..

My average here is higher than I’d like, but current SP presents a once in a decade opportunity. We’ve moved through covid, and now a market correction….he who dares wins over these next few months (across many sectors) then……..patience.
