1100 new stores acquired for the cost of less than current annual profits…..smart move. Easier (and cheaper) to acquire 1100 stores with sales data, footfall, leases in place & simply re-fit & re-stock. A roll out of 1100 (problematic stores will be closed) stores singularly would be 5+ years of graft & costs.
Great move IMO
Monopolyman….
Let’s not forget the vast majority of JD customers likely dont have mortgages,,or maybe even rent! 15-25yo likely still living at home. IMO we’re over the worst in this SP.
JD’s operating in 21+ territories dilutes risk too, it’s not all U.K. & US
Mine & the wife’s ISA’s up a combined £67,500 after yesterday, & I shifted my 2yo sons junior isa all onto JD on weds, he’s now sat on £26k from £18k investment in 12 months 👀
Thanks as always FF for your updates, holding now until we see £1.75+
Interesting read after Nike relentlessly went after D2C since lockdown, they’ve admitted they must focus on wholesale moving forward.
Multi-Brand retail is the future where an ever shortening consumer attention span seeks a time saving one stop shop.
I sold out a business to JD back in 2018, AND had a brand stocked in there until 18 months ago. The JD account was our most profitable by far…..Nike will NEVER restrict JD, if anything they will want to work even closer.
Come the update on the 28th, this current SP will be a distant memory. I’m buying more Monday!
Good luck all

Footasylum reporting positive results. Galvanising JD SP or taking more UK market share?

Megla,
based on your small mention of US listing for JD. If this was to happen in the future, what would happen to FTSE listing and therefore the current shares held by 'us'. Ive never heard/seen a company de-list from FTSE to appear over the pond, or could they be listed on both?
Grabbed another £15k today bringing my holding to £80k @ 1.11 avg. pretty happy with that
I own 5 x apparel brands, & we’ve collectively had our best Dec & Jan since 2016, and we used to be in JD. This is a no brainer. 📈
Sorry StanAccy I think you’re a mile away.
JD stock full football inventory, in the U.K. AND just as importantly in Europe. They are in all major European markets, so right under the football fans noses, SD aren’t.
You’ve shared a very U.K. specific view, JD are global and more importantly for the euros…..spread across the continent.
Montirex is only sold in U.K. & Ireland.
I’m pretty new to all this, thanks everyone for all your informative comments (especially those with premium memberships & more visibility)
I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for JD having recently had a brand within their 4 walls, been in the sector since 2014 and there’s absolutely nowhere even near JD from what I can see throughout the business.
I’ve gone pretty big thinking i ‘bought the dip near the bottom’ however I’m currently weighted at 1.275, not the end of the world but could’ve been better had I been a little more patient
Good luck everyone. Keep the info coming :)
