Not all countries respect patents. For poorer countries it's hard to blame them. It would really be better if things could be licenced at a nominal cost. The profits come from the developed world which can afford it and which gets the most economic value from it. Big pharma and governments have the resources to make it available more widely if they choose to do so - and maybe if they get pressure, or see other benefits. But ultimately profits drive investment, increase supply, bring down costs and make it available to the most people.

Ideally we get our high-end Synairgen branded interferon beta and the world's poor get a cost price generic (same drug though :-). Suits me fine, we all benefit. It's not like we're missing out on any revenue, they haven't got any money in the first place.

If we get a £50B buyout we should have a whip round and set up a biotech fund.

It sounds hopeful but it would be good to find a source that isn't widely hated for completely misrepresenting science.

Exactly. It's easy enough for the major gov-supported home trial to recruit thousands of patients - those with a positive test get steered that way. We needed some help, it would not have taken much and this looks like a serious failing.
Hopefully the yanks will show us how it's done shortly.

The placing was heavily over-subscribed - it's quite possible that several IIs put in for more than the £6M/3% but were scaled back. Also the reporting threshold is £10M/5% for international IIs.

They have stopped running Google ads - nothing solid but an interesting indicator.

This is quite obvious nonsense DP. There is zero possibility they ended the trial early based on the data, because they obviously did not have the data at that stage. The trial was paused to avoid causing harm to patients due to the risk of covid.
If you have lost faith in the company that's one thing - making up nonsense is another.

I agree that the ideal is for a new partner to take over the scale up beyond 100K/month.
An approved drug with a proven supply makes for a low risk and high value acquisition.
Or how about we licence directly to the US gov, they ought to be a good first customer.
