RE: Response to the latest REO Diatribe.6 Sep 2021 23:18
Chislehurst - re REO. TREO (The Rare Earth Observer) is operated as a subscription digital newsletter, hosted as one of thousands on the American-owned Subtstack web service. For a rake-off on every paid subscription each newsletter gets, Substack's policy is to policy is to encourage journalists to say what they want, enencumbered by editorial or creative interference in their newsletters.
Hedgeing this risky policy, they have their own legal program— called Substack Defender— which offers writers access to top-notch lawyers who provide advice on legal uncertainty or complexity related to their work. This includes pre-publication legal review of stories, as well as responses to cease-and-desist letters. Substack has committed to covering fees up to $1 million (sometimes more) once a case is picked up by Defender lawyers.
It's difficult to trace exactly who is behind the TREO newsletter - no information at all on their Substack newsletter pages. All the stuff about Privacy, Terms, Help, etc is bog-standard Substack boilerplate and tells you zilch about TREO,
Their "About" page doesn't tell you anything about TREO's owners/sponsors, but the text itself is quite revealing, in that it is obviously writtten by someone whose first language isn't English (and I'm not referring to Australians there). Here it is with the giveaways in CAPITALS and my comments in brackets:

Why subscribe?
What you always wanted to know about RARE EARTH (usually plural) and NEVER DARED ASKING (odd phrase and wrong verb construction).
More than 100 rare earth deposits (a sentence with no verb )in different stages of development all over the planet. 20 billion tons of mineable resource containing 120 million tons of rare earth oxides equivalent (a sentence with no verb), good for 450 years of world demand.
A (should be An) holistic approach to the confusing world of rare earths (missing verb again). Cut through the information fog of sponsored news, outdated market reports and hyped non-news.
PROPERLY UNDERSTAND (awkward expression) investment opportunities and (missing verb again) GREAT LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES (weird use of phrase).
All PRINCIPAL PARTICIPANTS (a stilted way to say major players) in the RARE EARTH SPACE (strange phrase and earth should be plural) read The Rare Earth Observer.
We and our contributors may or may not have business dealings with or hold shares in the companies discussed.
Subscribe to get full access to the newsletter. Never miss an update.
Stay UP-TO-DATE (only hyphenated when followed by a noun)
Every new edition of the newsletter goes directly to your inbox.
JOIN THE CREW. (like it's a boat or something??)
GET SMARTER ON RARE EARTH. (pure Chinglish)

OK that doesn't mean it's sponsored by China - but if it is created in Singapore as you say, that would be a very convenient front would it not? It is undeniably rabidly anti-Pensana and churns out unverifiable goss
