The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring Jeremy Skillington, CEO of Poolbeg Pharma has just been released. Listen here.
Andybe4 - "Was 40p two months ago. Then fell to 30p..."
Was 20p five months ago, 18p in March...
If you're getting paid by the word for these daily rants, well done. But if you're doing it for free you really should find a better hobby.
Lebus - "...from over £2 to under 20p in less than a year on the back of a botched trial"
That's the point I was making.
Anybody who thinks the trial was botched doesn't really have a clue what they're whining about.
Reading through these comments, you can easily spot the few posters who had never invested in drug development before the pandemic.
I'd be interested to know if Richard Marsden's still as optimistic as he was at the June AGM of getting on a trial this winter.
I think infection rates could largely determine how many drugs get trialled. And at the moment it's anybody's guess how bad that will be three months from now.
Brysoa - "raison d’être was and remains the immense clinical problems of COPD and Asthma"
It wasn't. It has ALWAYS been an antiviral.
But because people with COPD and asthma are at greater risk of dying from respiratory viruses, they were prioritized in getting the drug developed and trialled.
MrCosts - "this drug is not turning heads and hasn't done for the 18+ years."
They raised £200m for its development two years ago. When you keep coming out with rubbish like that it's no wonder nobody on here takes you seriously.
Oh I see. I thought you were saying he was actually in meetings with them, not just that they're at the same conference.
Brand - "The CEO is literally in DC with reps of BARDA, NIH etc right now."
Where did you read that? It sounds like a strong hint we'll be on another platform trial soon.
MrCosts - "This is not a day for celebration."
It's not all bad. We're only minutes away from finding out which one of Boris' inner circle is going to ruin the country. He did a great job if you ignore all the sewage, lies, fines, lies and everything else the EU is to blame for.
Aether - "What carnage caused the deletion of so many posts!?"
They're not deleted, I think it's a caching issue with the server. Sometimes you'll find that changing the "Posts per page" will return them, and I think I've also found that temporarily using another browser could help.
The last I heard, we were optimistic that SNG001 would be appear in the STRIVE (Strategies and Treatments for Respiratory & Viral Emergencies) trial which is described as a continuation/rework of the ACTIV program. But the only solid information I've been able to find out about it (linked below) puts the expected 'First Patient Enrolled' date as the end of August. Has there been any more informationon it?
STRIVE document: https://dcricollab.dcri.duke.edu/sites/NIHKR/KR/GR-Slides-07-15-22.pdf
I also see that ACTIV-2d is underway, which is a Phase 3 trial to test Shionogi's Antiviral S-217622. That trial began in mid-August, but was announced in March this year. So the good news is that ACTIV is still ongoing. But it's unfortunate that it was planned before we had a chance to be included. Here's the ClinicalTrials link for it, and the document I posted above mentions it's part of ACTIV-2d.

ProfessorSPD - "Fauci needs locking up, Rand Paul has destroyed him many times. "
You sound like a conspiracy theory nutjob. I think you might be more comfortable somewhere like Infowars.
You're welcome. Try to do better next time.
Jtan - "why's that sandiego? i get the impression you're down here."
1) You're wrong about that.
Jtan - "ive caled 1p the entire week."
2) You're wrong about that too. 4p =/= 1p
3) Posting smug "I told you so" comments in a forum where other people have made signifcant losses is also stupid. Nobody cares if you got a lucky guess, and convincing yourself they do is stupid. So that's 3 stupid things in only 2 posts. Then there're the typos and inability to form a complete sentence. Asking stupid questions when the answer's obvious... It's a long list really.
Jtan - "ive caled 1p the entire week. people thought i was stupid"
I still think that.
Q: Do you see Synairgen treating patients in a hospital either in the UK or USA this winter?
A: RM I would envisage yes, I’m happy to say I strongly envisage we will be. Subject to ongoing discussions.
That's from the conversation on here that immediately followed the AGM. If you set the 'Posts per thread' to 100, it's currently on page 18.
Thanks Ghia. It'll be interesting to see what happens with the upcoming NIH trial and the data we're waiting for.
You guys are right.
If it missed its endpoints in the Activ-2 trial it would have been stupid to waste more time on it (even if their 'deep-dive' data offered encouraging hints it was worth further investigation).
Size82 - "they've have already announced it has passed into phase 3 so that would suggest otherwise...."
No it wouldn't. It would mean they have the same opinion as the investors: i.e. it works but the trial was unable to prove it due to the changable nature of the virus and its treatments.
I suspect they're holding back the Activ-2 results because, like Sprinter, they're inconclusive and they don't want to destroy the development of a drug they think has real potential.
I don't normally go in for silly conspiracy theories, but I think that makes more sense than assuming they're just dragging their heels in getting the data analysed. They've already done the hard part and were confident enough with what they saw to recommend it advance to the next stage. With the enormous amounts of time and money that have gone into these trials, analysing data they've already got would be a walk in the park.
