I also saw that "whistleblower" post, which was being reposted by many as "proof" that there are orchestrated efforts being made by institutions and individuals to manipulate the prices of certain shares downwards. Of course, such "evidence" was seized upon by those who feel a need to explain the existence of those with more negative views on any given stock... this proves of course that anyone posting less than positively must be a member of the Evil Global Shorting Conspiracy (tm), right?
Except as has been repeatedly pointed out by the more sane here, it is impossible to short AIM stocks...
So I agree. In my very firm view, the creation of that whistleblower post was just another slightly more sophisticated but equally faked effort to discredit specific named individuals who don't post cultishly positively on certain shares.
What was most amusing, given the readiness with which those suffering with positive confirmation bias instantly believed this conspiracy theory is that they didn't consider the flip side of the coin. It did not occur for one second to them that, if murkier city institutions do try to manipulate share prices on bulletin boards, half the time, said dodgy city boys will be trying to ramp pricing upwards, because an upward move an an SP will suit their agenda at that time.
Example: take a look at ANGS's apparently near identical twin, UKOG, and the short-term rampathon that was carried out with maximum effort by multiple brand new IDs in the couple of weeks prior to its most recent nigh on 3 billion share placing being announced. A very nice little short-term created spike, into which the institutions having agreed to take part in the placing could forward sell their placing shares and trouser an easy and instant 15-20%. Needless to say, the SP crashed by 20%+ on the Monday when the placing was actually announced...
Crocq's right again... the best thing is to trust no-one.
