The fact of the matter is the 2.6m late trade at 4.2p is not marked as delayed, it could well be a buy, or a market to market maker trade, the bid was rising into the close and the market was getting stronger to the upside.

I have no doubt there are shenanigans going on with the market makers, they look to be short and need to re-coup some shares at current levels but my bet is tomorrow will be a good day.

I see a rally back to 4.75p-5p soon enough.

Adding to my earlier commentary, the stock has re-traced 30% on pretty modest volumes in 3 sessions, from 5.5p to 3.9p, my view is we should see a bounce to the 4.75p region soon enough, obviously more news-flow of a positive nature could change the technical target.

An excellent trading entry point IMO.

The shares hit 5.5p on Friday can now be bought for circa 4p - indicators have moved from overbought to neutral - a 1.5p drop in such short time suggests the shares offer value at current levels, therefore a technical buy IMO.

I am hoping Bird will use today's webcast to counter the negativity created by TW who clearly threw his toys out of the pram for reasons we can all speculate on.

A re-iteration of the financial numbers coming from the projects in Mozambique and Zambia will suffice as well as stating how close Xtract are to these meaningful revenues.

Hopefully Bird may also confirm there are no legal proceedings against him or Xtract in Zambia, you do not have to be a brain surgeon to work out who may be behind these plants of fake news.

I tend to agree with earlier posts now is probably the time to top up or buy into XTR, we know a news rich period is ahead.

The Notice of Dispute was served on 24th July so the 3 month deadline ends next Friday (the last business day) It is clear the clock is ticking, time to decide to get in (or not) is limited.

On the 10th September Ascent informed the market that the Quantum Expert tasked with with working out the total claim for damages was due to report 'imminently'

It makes you wonder why this report has not been released, adds strength to media reports that a 'amicable' settlement seems likely.

At some point Ascent will have to comment on these rumours IMO, they have been very quiet on a media front recently also.

You are either in or out of this, when the news breaks, if positive, this will fly higher, even at 10p a share the market valuation would only be £7.5m

Does look like they are catering for a significant ramp up of gold production, this is starting to look cheap based on forward expectations.

No smoke without fire in my book, we know how accurate the leaks were in the Slovenian press when the rot started a couple of years ago. This time they are positive.

I believe a settlement will be reached, if so the shares will rocket plain and simple, a £3m valued company chasing £40m+ in damages with rumours of an amicable conclusion.

I have added, the market is tight.

I would imagine any amicable settlement would have to include a cash sum for damages, we await the exact number AST are seeking but this is expected to be known imminently as the expert attributed to calculate the sum is close to conclusion according to a recent RNS.

The sum mentioned prior based on current exchange rates was circa £45m - with circa 75m shares issued this equates to 60p a share !

Looks like the rumours are true, the Slovenians want to settle the dispute with Ascent amicably, we know from our historic detriment that these media articles are usually accurate.

The free float here is gradually being taken out, some weeks ago I suggested it would be wise to follow the money, namely the recent city based TR1 holders who have been building positions.

My bet is some deal will be worked with the Slovenians, it may involve a level of compensation and some assurances the company will be allowed to develop the gas field without undue hindrance, maybe Ascent could sell their stake to a Slovenian company, many options are on the table.

None of the above are in the current share price are they.

I think we are close to finding out, it is nigh impossible to buy any meaningful level of stock around current prices.

If the press article is correct then it is no wonder a number of city based individuals have been building positions, what would a financial settlement and a in principle agreement with the Slovenian authorities to be able to stimulate the wells do to the a company only valued at £2.5m

I am staggered more folk are not buying into this, AIM is full of risk but most of the risk here is already in the share price, as a reminder a few years ago AST were valued at £40m, now just £3m

I would add, how things have changed, a few years ago when Ascent was all the rage an article like this would have sky rocketed the share price in anticipation, now it is only the clued up few who show interest and debate.

It makes perfect sense for a amicable settlement, the new Non Exec has probably been drafted in to add expertise in the matter.

We know to our historic detriment that these leaks coming from Slovenia often have substance - in this case it looks positive.

Good luck trying to buy in at current levels is all I can say.

At current exchange rates and with 1.1b shares in issue the deal values ARS at around 12p a share based on $163m - at 4p ARS is currently valued at only £44m

A discount will be considered for the equity element, which equates to around $113m, nevertheless this deal has to add significant value to the current share price - discounting the equity element by 50% and adding back the $50m cash element I see the value of this deal being priced by the market at 7.75p a share

The rest of ARS is in for nothing.

It is pretty clear someone is hoovering up any loose stock in AST, the late trade yesterday took all the small sells.

Something is brewing.

The £13m 'write down' that is not an actual write down but merely an accounting situation was worth 3p a share, based on that the recovery should be to 11.5p as a result of the market 'misunderstanding' the situation.

As the excellent coverage by ST (below) suggests no account is made for the recovery of order and the broadly positive forward looking statement, the shares traded circa 25p mid year, can now be bought for circa 10.5p, surely this has to be worth 15p-18p based on it's recovery potential.
