Since they hired someone for pimping the company's Linkedin posts, it'll be all peachy from now on.

Personally I find it rather irritating, to see a CEO posting about visiting customers and prospects all the time, while the company is only doing renewals.

Might be that he's just buying groceries at Tesco and (in a way) that is a customer visit.

As I said many times, at a smaller scale this might work (but not with such an expensive board / CEO).

Nothing will be happening anytime soon, as usual, we're all keep speculating about potential new deals and that the new CRO will finally resolve the obvious sales issues they have...

We heard that promise from the turnaround CEO before, two years and I'm still under the impression that this is more like a 360 turnaround...

I think the problem isn't the CRO, it's a realistic view of the TAM that Cirata has.

I'm I missing somehting? We're in the low twenties and some people on here celebrate like we're close to ten points.

We've quite often seen those kind of SP movements, remember where the SP was before the last fundraise.

Being invested doesn't necessarily mean, that you're disconnected from reality.

Just looked at his Linkedin profile, solid, but not overimpressive. Long stint at Fujitsu and HP, 3 years at AWS and Telefonica Tech as his last station.

Flipped between direct sales, partnersales and BDM roles (or was covering all of it at the same time), maybe they need a jack of all trades, less flamboyant, just doing his job. I wonder if he helps them to jump on that data sovereignty train? Judging from his Linkedin contacts, mainland Europe is a little bit underrepresented.

Personal notes from my side:

Either you're a partner sales or a direct sales, it's a different ballgame.

I'm not sure if it is a wise move to have an UK guy handle sales in the US, that usually doesn't work too well.

I just think it's almost surreal, that they can get away with that slipped deal narrative for so long.

I really don't know enough about how they position DI, but judging from the publicly available information I think it is kinda fair to call it self service SaaS.

Plus side:

-easy to handle

-shorter sales cycle

-you don't need necessarily an expensive salesforce

-no devops (hence they sold that part)

-people might really buy that stuff via the cloud marketplaces (Azure, AWS or GCP Appstore)

but there also Downsides:

-Deal sizes will be way smaller compared to a real enterprise engagement level (the numbers reflect that more or less). No one buys mission critical stuff on an appstore.

-The relationship to our customer is on a different engagement level. Land and expand might not work that well, after all you need account managers (Sales) to actively to explore new opportunities at existing customers. Nothing sells by itself.

About the different marketplace listenings: Of course, they are a good thing, but no, really no one visits a cloud vendors marketplace with the intention "Oh yeah, we base our new AI initiative on an app I found on this cloud vendor marketplace".

Not happening.

Marketplace listenings make procurement easier, but the real sale happens before that.

It'll be interesting to know how much they actually sold so far via the Azure marketplace (or the others).

I know that there are other players in the market that see enormous growth.

Data sovereignty is a huge play, especially in Continental Europe. As far as I know they have no sales guys in the region, might be a mistake?

You see a lot of efforts from the Hyperscalers (GCP, AWS, Azure and so on) to counteract, they all invested heavily, e.g. Oracle just announced that they're investing in 1 Billion in the Netherlands and 2 Billion in Germany.

Cirata is only covering the unstructured data part, but that alone should be enough.

Don't forget it's an extremely high paced business and there is a lot of competition right now.

Maybe SK should have acted quicker, it's been more than 2 years and the main topic is still poor sales execution and slipped deals.

For the same time we've been hearing that they are addressing this, obviously to no avail.

It's bitter, but it might just be that the competition overtook them and Cirata's opportunity is closing.
