Just a couple of interesting points if you watching Ascot on the box. Rah Rah the Johnstone Godolphin partnership horse has been working extremely well at home and was very nearly a selection for today in the Queen Mary at 3.05. In the Duke of Cambridge Stakes RIZEENA who won for me last year at this meeting. Ran poorly first time out this year but she did this last year but then won at Ascot. RAH RAH would keep the 100% success rate for Mark Johnson??? I bought a 3 year old Filly off Mark Johnson in 1998 called TOP OF THE FORM which won a couple of races for but I sold to stud in Ireland and her 1st Colt sold for 80000 gns and 2nd Colt sold for 234.000gns and did not win a race she was covered by Grand Lodge.

The going for the first day at Ascot good ( good to firm in places) so it's on the fast side of good. This will suit our main selection the Mark Johnson trained and now Godolphin owned BURATINO. This is Johnson's first runner in the all blue Colours.

In the Coventry Stakes I've been told BURATINO has come out of his Epsom race very well and is strongly fancied at 8/1 this is our best bet EW for Tuesday but 1st I will be on Solow in the 2.30 to get my money for BURATINO. GLA

Polsk yes I noticed the money came for the Brian Ellison horse very clever trainer. I also had a word that the Robert Winston horse was in good form but 3yro Filly put me off. I took Robert to the races many a time when he was apprentice to Richard Fahey I had 7 horses in training then and Robert rode my biggest race winner at Doncaster. I think he's very under rated these days along with Fergal Lynch who rode several winners for me.

Poor day no room for the horse to get through and just missed out on the place. Royal Ascot tomorrow so fingers crossed.

MARGARETS MISSION withdrawn 4.50 Doncaster ground gone to soft after 25mm rain in 24hours.

21 Non runners at Salisbury with no change in going since Friday. Flat racing should go back to the 24hr declarations instead of the 48hr. All the trainers I have spoken to would welcome going back to 24hr decs.

A change in the weather has meant that the going at Doncaster has now changed to good to soft and this has seriously improved the chances of MOONLIGHT VENTURE in the 4.50. Connections are expecting a big run from her,in the same race the Goldie/ Lynch partnership have travelled from Scotland and very much fancy MARGARET'S MISSION which is being gambled this morning 8/1 15/2 7/1 and is now 5/1. So my bet on this race was MARGARETS MISSION £10 ew I got 17/2 and MOONLIGHT VENTURE £5 ew at 10/1.

Bad day at the office today. I watched my old Battalion the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards get their new Colours from the Queen on her official Birthday in Trooping the Colours this morning. When it finished I tuned into channel 4 racing and the Queens horse Awsome Power was running in the 1st race so had to have £10 on it at 17/2 so happy. I don't like Sunday racing but I am going to have a £1ew trixie on The QUEENS two runners. Salisbury 4.00 5. Musical Comedy. 4.35 3. Husbandry. GLA then back to business on Monday.
