I think Trump is safeguarding the future for the USA, so the current crude process are neither here nor there.

The USA has plenty of light crude, but insufficient heavy crude, particularly to keep its heavy crude refineries open.

Heavy crude is less risky compared to light crude. As countries begin to wind down demand for car petrol there will be less and less use of light crude.

However, even when we have nothing but electric vehicles on the road, those roads will still need heavy crude to make asphalt and bitumen. Ships will still be powered by heavy crude products for years yet.

BP debt levels only appear bad when compared to other oilers. Should the big US oilers be asked to modernise the infrastructure of the decrepit Venezuelan oil fields, BP will look relatively normal.

The USA is the biggest producer or exporter of light crude, a lot from shale. The stuff is used for cap petrol and aviation fuel.

The trouble is that the USA also needs heavy crude, whic is typically used to make diesel, fuel for ships (think of the US Navy's huge daily need!), asphalt and bitumen. The largest producers include Canada, which might explain why Trump would like it as the 51st US State, Russia, which might explain why Trump will not help the Ukraine more, and Venezuela.

So, for Trump, it IS worth risking war over to secure the valuable resource.

The price of crude oil and gas are the principal driversnof the share price.

Debtnisna good thing, as it provides liquid capital/working capital without diluting our shareholding. The added gearing is goodnfor the company and the shareholders as more profit can be generated with sensible investment of the debt financing.

After waiting years to see the Mark Wahlberg/Kurt Russell film, I got to see it at last! The technical details of what caused the disaster went over my head, to be honest, but the action scenes were very convincing.
