Lloyds the runt of the litter of UK Banks again today falling more than Barclays and Natwest again.

FTSE futures up 25 pts so market should open in positive territory, lets hope Lloyds can do the same.

Foley vs Hill 1848 clearly states regarding the bank "Its duty was to repay (when demanded) a sum equivalent to that paid into his hands". So my understanding of this is the bank does not own the money. The depositor does.

That's incorrect Brixton. You get periodic statements from the bank advising amount on account. You still own that money, the bank is obliged to honour any cheques , direct debits made on the account subject to being in credit. You can close the account whenever you want and the bank is obliged to pay the outstanding amount in your balance to you.

Even with a total 2.25p, that would cost 1.62 billion, so there should still be a large pile of cash left which could also fund a special dividend and/or buy back programme as well.

I'm just working on a "worst case scenario" when I say total dividend for ear 2.01p; prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Anything more would be a bonus and I would be delighted if more than 2.01p. Lets see.

Given that the interim dividend was 0.67p, is it safe to assume that the final will be 1.34p (2 x interim) making total dividend for year 2.01p. I would be delighted if this was the base level for the progressive dividend.

The honourable thing for the BOD to do would be pay it as a special dividend, in addition to the final dividend, to wipe the slate clean.

Although quoted as saying "this is a dividend delayed rather than a dividend destroyed forever", I dont think we should read into this that the cash amount of delayed dividend will be paid at some point in the future as a dividend. They could decide to use the cash in another way such as a share buy back, or acquisitions such as Embark, or even keep it on the balance sheet to support a progressive dividend in lean years?

DOW futures currently up 93pts but have slipped a bit from earlier.

I await with a feeling of trepidation for the quarter 3 statement on 28th October; the half year results were very good, albeit no information on buy backs or clues as to what final dividend will be, yet the SP has slowly declined since. I just cannot see any more information regarding buybacks or final/special dividend being given at 3rd quarter update, and if the update is not as upbeat as the half year report regarding earnings it will be a long wait to full year results 24th February 2022, with further pressure on SP.
