As a counter to the unbridled positivity by some posters I think Darla's post is very fair. It's the absolute gloomiest spin on the situation but the points made are perfectly valid.

Like TedB said file it away so as to prevent yourself being stupid enough to throw your life savings on this investment but have it filed alongside posts from the likes of ShareSting that present an entirely opposite way of looking at the enormous potential here.

It does go to show that we got a bit ahead of ourselves! With the luxury of hindsight, expecting an mcap of £1.5-£3b just 10 months into the pandemic was always a tad ambitious!

I'll be delighted if those predictions come good for xmas 2021!

By the time it's reported that a celebrity has covid bad they'll have likely tested positive too long ago to join in the trial, right???

I was thinking about keeping tabs on celebrity linked positive results so as to quickly reach out to them but it feels like I'd be doing synairgen's job for them!

There are many reasons why the share price might bounce from here but you'd assume if the primary reason was the Brexit deal we'd have opened up positively like the entire ftse???

I wasn't convinced a brexit deal would lead to more buyers here.

Dampened somewhat by the news that we're back into lockdown on Boxing Day more or less and all the worries over the two new mutant strains...

I've been concerned about PROmate but in reality it will have been rolled out to 300 hospitals minimum by now and probably more settings (re the care home trials) and we've seen just a couple of negative comments/conversations on twitter.

I get what you'r saying Soder, I am projecting two years forward based on covid alone. Obviously it's completely hypothetical but a year into this we can start to see what the future might look like. So yeah imagining covid alone without reinvesting elsewhere in two years from now we could be looking at £200m revenue, £100m profit and £700m cash in the bank. Maybe that wouldn't give us a £2b valuation but if that covid revenue was likely to be year after year we just might?

Again completely hypothetical but I'm just trying to illustrate how, if covid becomes endemic and sales from covid are continuous, it will be an incredible base in which to reach midcap status from.

Soder, I don't think you quite understood what I was getting at. Yes currently we are valued at about 2xcash in the bank. I was making the point that although covid sales will almost certainly drop from this level (expecting ~350m 2020 and much higher 2021), there is every chance that we will still be generating money from covid in 2022 and beyond through PCR & antibody testing. I'm saying if that's the case we could make midcap status from covid alone, let alone the inevitable expansion and new revenue streams.

In other words if covid becomes endemic and we don't fall out of favour/PCR is still the gold standard, that alone should more or less guarantee sizeable returns from here. The odds are pretty high imv.

To grow to a £2b mcap (my 2 year target), we don't need to match current revenue and profit levels, we just need to be seeing consistent revenue/profits at about £200m/£100m respectively. Almost certainly far lower than what we've seen this year.
If after one more year of exceptional sales we are still able to generate money from covid, then we will almost certainly reach midcap through covid sales alone, let alone new areas of diagnostics the company will have moved into.

Two years might sound a way off but it really isn't long to wait for the potential returns that are highly likely here if covid is not brought under complete control. And my target is far more conservative than many others on here I'm sure...

Personally I am not half as worried about the DHSC contract as I was before - I don't think we are relying on it to see a rerate in the medium term. Getting the Qs into hospitals the length and breadth of the country will obviously be highly lucrative however and would tighten the relationship with the government even further.

So in your opinion EXMEX the second phase hasn't been triggered? Or do you think there's leeway with that date?

We can't keep assuming that when they talk of british treatments it's dexamethasone - that's old news!

The director buys were between 10th and 13th November with Graham's large purchase at £8.17 and another director paying £9. Since then the covid outlook is far bleaker, PCR has been put on a pedestal publicly and the vaccine rollout has been slower than anticipated...

It's just a bunch of contributors sharing their opinion, it isn't one uniform voice. One of those articles suggested this could drop to a pound (when the share price was over £2 I think) before recovering as p3 trials take time to setup - I guess that person called it well...

Not suggesting you base your investment decisions on it but I for one am happy to see a contributor promoting synairgen and saying they'd buy.

To be fair by double I think they mean *at least* double - i.e could rise substantially. I have never seen an article on the Motley Fool predict 500%+ returns!

I would prefer it if the company focused on covid for the time being and took their time reinvesting the cashpile - there is nothing wrong in this unprecedented situation to wait a little to get a better picture of the emerging diagnostic landscape post-covid before getting out the cheque book...

It would surprise me - I don't think it's realistic to supply every single UK test. I'd prefer us to focus on being recognised as a global leader in PCR testing as well as our antibody offering.
