TPDC board starts work, visits Mtwara and Lindi

The Board of Directors of the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) led by the retired Secretary General, Ambassador Ombeni Sefue has made a working visit to visit projects for the exploration, development and production of natural gas in Lindi and Mtwara regions.
Speaking after seeing the 3D seismic data collection works in the Ruvuma block run by ARA Petroleum Tanzania, Ambassador Sefue said "The use of natural gas in this country has continued to increase day by day so the work being done in this block aims to increase our production of natural gas to match the growth rate of its demand”. Ambassador Sefue expressed his satisfaction with the ongoing work in the Ruvuma block and asked ARA Petroleum Tanzania to continue with that pace to match the investments being made in the country which largely require energy.
On his part, the CEO of TPDC, Dr. James Mataragio explained how TPDC, as the holder of all oil and gas exploration blocks in the country, cooperates with investors in the upstream to ensure that the activities of exploration and development of these resources continue at a fast pace. Dr. Mataragio said "TPDC in collaboration with investors have continued to carry out various professional works with the aim of ensuring that we develop our gas and oil sector and match the increase in demand for natural gas domestically and abroad".
In addition, the General Manager of ARA Petroleum Tanzania, Ndg. Erhan Saygi explained their expectations as a company is to produce gas in the wells of Ntorya 1, Ntorya 2 and Chikumbi 1 which is in preliminary preparation. "We have planned to complete the collection of seismic data in November and start drilling the Chikumbi 1 well which will be the third in this block early in 2023". Ndg. Erhan also explained that their expectation is to produce 60 million cubic feet per call (60mmscfd) to begin with and the production will continue as the demand for gas will be.
