3 years is the new 1 year when it comes to shorting in the U.K. I think private investors must be prepared to wait for at least five years to see good returns on any solid share that hedgefunds are actively shorting for trading purposes not necessarily that the company is going bankrupt.
They did same thing with GLEN, AAL, BHP for years!

The final divi should have been cut down to 4p. Conn should be smarter and cut the whole divi in half.......6p is a decent return from this low price. I don’t like the fact that net debt will jump next year while profitability suffers and our nuclear stake becomes worthless.

I have a bad feeling that the previous CFO had to go once the CEO criticised his performance.

I still think shorting VOD is very risky as it is an ideal investment for big pension / infrastructure funds who target 4% returns. A good cost cutting whereby all useless execs and managers are culled and customer services automated and simplified like subscription TV. I never call netflix as my fee is fixed and I can simply cancel whenever I want. No switching drama so no need for depressed call centre workers.

Conn is the problem, this market is all about market share so we can’t afford to lose customers. Why can’t we match those cheap deals?

This market is crazy, conn just knows how to sound depressing as well. The useless guy should stem the outflow of customers by matching the cheapest tariffs, cutting cost faster instead of crying everyday. Conn is a weak guy who is damaging the company.

Great first buy......this crazy market ignores core companies who provide essential services buy hype up companies like Facebook who exploit vulnerable people.

SP has performed terribly compared to riskier assets, even Lloyd’s has risen 20% from low of last year. House builders are up more than 20%, REITs have added 10%. I don’t recall people not using their phones and broadband.......Unilever and Diageo have been the best defensive stocks in ftse 100 lately.

Pay down debt instead, even if they lose REIT structure........they balance sheet will improve!

RMG looks like a great buy, my average here is 161p after 3 years of buying.................I’m top heavy in BT too waiting for European M&A boom in the telecoms sector. I still think a company like BP can easily buy CNA for 250p, debt and competitive issues would be sorted out. The current CEO is a delusional guy who can’t grow customer numbers.

Xfactor and the cheesy game shows can’t bring in money in the future. “Friends” is still bringing in money.....I say stop wasting money on ant & Dec, produce shows that can be watched by audience that would attract the most ad money. Netflix and Prime pay for ready made shows which makes sense than paying excessive salary to average local presenters.

I suggest you don’t day trade any individual share. I only day / week trade zero-leverage physical full replicated liquid ETFs. (ISF) FTSE100 etf by Ishares blackrock is great.
I always thought solid shares like VOD were safer to trade as their services were essential......boy how wrong was I. Now go and compare CNA and ISF charts.

Itv studio is good and could even become great, itv broadcast part of the business needs ad money flowing so they will need to attract ad money by listening to what the ad agencies want. If YouTube and Facebook crappy contents are getting so much views, surely itv studios can do better. Now ITV hub has not been updated since the hype talk from the CEO. The app is very slow, doesn’t auto play the next episode and the category section needs improving. The contents on Chanel 4 and iTV would make a good ad supported streaming app.

Sure Darby is to blame for the SP performance and for the fact that PFD ticker is still in existence! Ambrosia is a tough sell alone.

A CFO turned CEO cannot be relied on when it comes to divi but I think NR had his chance to give us a negative guidance on divi. CFOs always know more about the finances of the business than any member of the board, just ask ex-CFOs of Carillion and Patisserie Valerie! NR could have cut the divi, dug up some skeletons under the floorboard but he didn’t and maintained guidance.
We need to see NR load up on shares at this level.......1 Million shares to start with then monthly buys till we get to 200p would send a bullish signal.

Everyone thinks they can sell books, I will be writing mine too - how to lose money to MMs and brokers. The market is about wealth transfer from mainly poor / less informed / unfortunate people to the already wealthy ones who can stay invested without complaining on BBs.

EDF just cut its divi so I think we are next, the only problem I have is that we are down already.

The market turned VOD into high yield by marking us down thinking a divi cut was on the table. No divi cut meant a re-rating but the market is dead sure the divi will be chopped. Since the market has made its move, the SP will not plunge on divi cut news.
Any increase in revenue, profit and divi will give this SP a mega bounce. Telecoms are highly regulated but you never know, a new wave of younger and smarter politicians might scale back regulations. The sector needs to consolidate, hike prices and improve quality. I think European telecoms M&A is going to happen this year or 2020 so stay invested in quality brands......VOD, DT, Orange, Telefonica, BT
