For you, I'm genuinely sorry afren went under (there are probably thousands out there I would have empathy and some sympathy for, but very, very, very few on this board deserve anything other than they got. Bearing in mind I've always said anyone who tips a share is a liar, and anyone who listens is a fool, I was wondering if you're invested in more established companies, that may pay a decent dividend ? I think you've mentioned fitb recently, and were looking at others, but given your interest in the recent events in afren, and your eagerness to understand the businesses you're investing in, I'm sure there's a number of ftse 100 multinationals that would give you hours of reading pleasure, lol, even if they're not going to set the world on fire with anything new and disruptive in their near-term pipeline. there's nothing wrong with big and boring in my book, spiced up with a newcomer or two, or an up-and-comer (good luck finding the jewels there, but they do exist). you've got time on your side too for dividend reinvestment. Yeah, not very exciting, I admit, lol. But sometimes interesting, for a boring old(ish) fart. Like me.
