RE: Multi National Metals Company bought waste material.13 Apr 2025 10:07
As you have identified, processing it is an enormous logistical and operational challenge and will take many years, which of course is great news as it gives a guarantee of operational longevity and makes the company more valuable as an investment. But if you do not have the basic ability to process it, and to do so locally, let alone on such a vast scale, the heap is worth whatever someone who CAN do so is prepared to pay you. And $18 million in Zambia, and paid in a year, rather than as it is consumed, is worth a damn sight more than its value in say, the UK, and spread over 30 years. We don't know the sellers of the heap but $18 million dollars goes a very long way in Zambia. It "just so happens" that JLP has built a business capable of processing millions of tonnes of material per year, as witnessed by the Chrome operation and, using similar modular technology, can now do so with Copper, if processing it ourselves makes the most financial sense. Whichever, we are in the driving seat and our foot is on the "gas".
