Thanks Goldinvestor7. I have no problem with Centamin, I think they have a great orebody, and are now mining it in a sensible fashion. The constant neighing about things well and truly in the past, is at best boring or snoring and to state the obvious, out of date.

As I posted, gold exploration and mining is a risky business...and CEY is doing it better than most ! In fact apart from 2 Junior exploration companies I generally give the Gold business a miss.

Tietto is a good success story in Cote Ivoire and provides some clues as to project viability, value of mineralsiation, and ability to get a mine up and going..fairly quickly.

I do not invest in companys that Joseph is involved in as I do not think he has required technical depth to make any informed opinion, so I look with a great deal of skeptisicism on what he says, and to be honest I dont bother to read what he says. Further the technical team he has, is suspect in my humble view...see the Pardey story. So, an avoid for me ... good luck to him !!!

There are enormous risks in mining and exploration even more so. The latter has a success rate of about 0.001%, and that success rate is getting less as ore bodies get deeper.

You need a crack technical team to be successful in Mining, and I mean repeatedly successful. Look at WMC Resources, who were repeatedly successful at finding Major Ore Systems, like Olympic Dam. How did they do it, time and again?

The Mining Industry forgets, to the degree now they would not know. If you have ot, you can read about the boirth of the Exploration Division from the mouth of the man who created it. Perfect, I doubt it, but better than the rest, for sure. The likes of this company do not exist anymore. BHP has very limited capacity, as does Rio (etc)

I am fully aware of all of the other factors which determine commercial viability of a gold project, as I have written before, ...one of the interesting things the mining industry does, is try to construct somewhat arbitarily complex 3d shapes of the mineralisation, based on a series of pin pricks (drill holes). In short they use about 0.0003%( this is the total volume of the drill core or chips) of the volume of the arbitarily complex 3d shape to predict 100% of the shape, and of course they are nearly always wrong.

They further compund the matter of mass calculation, by not measuring enough density samples of the core or chips, and so the asignment of density to the 3d shape is compromised as well, and in fact you may well see different grade domains in 3d, as well as different density domains (geology is often complex)...and so the mass calculation can and often is wrong.

And then one moves to characterisation of the leachability of these different domains? And this is where it gets really interesting, as of course they use even less samples, which means you get to some ridiculously small % of the total volume of the mineralisation to calculate the recovered gold. And then they use these chronically underrsampled if not very biased sampling to design a processing work sheet, which is the basis for a $x00m capital investment and build of a processing plant.

and when things go wrong (they in fact get it wrong far more than they get it right, but lets not worry, we put this under the carpet, as we are too busy clamouring to make things work) they do what ?

The grade of open pit mining is not the lowest or is it particulalry low.

the problems were wall failure and some you beaut high grading, coupled with being underdone in their drill pattern to determine resource (v common problem)

I doubt it very much as that would be a material event, and laws of continuous disclosure are not to be taken lightly. Typically the date of expiry/renewal is a little rubbery as the process can take a lot longer than it should, for no fault of the companies ...

My bet? It is int he process of being renewed. The Ivory Coast recognises true intent and expenditure .

The Doropo Project (“Doropo”) consists of seven exploration permits, covering an area of approximately 1,850km2. Doropo is in the northeast of Côte d’Ivoire, approximately 480km north of Abidjan.

The license holding covers thirteen gold deposits, named Souwa, Nokpa, Chegue Main, Chegue South, Tchouahinin, Kekeda, Han, Enioda, Hinda, Nare, Kilosegui, Attire and Vako. Approximately 85% of the gold deposits are concentrated within a 7km radius (“Main Resource Cluster”), with Vako and Kilosegui deposits located within an approximate 15km and 30km radius, respectively.

Geologically, Doropo lies entirely within the Tonalite-Trondhjemite-Granodiorite domain, bounded on the eastern side by the Boromo-Batie greenstone belt, in Burkina Faso, and by the Tehini-Hounde greenstone belt on the west.

The Company began extensive exploration at Doropo in 2016, building to a Mineral Resource Estimate of 5Moz in 2021. As part of the PFS work programme, a maiden Mineral Reserve of 1.87Moz was declared in the Probable Reserves category. The project is being progressed through to the DFS stage which is scheduled for completion in mid-2024.

While it is useful to learn from the past it is generally not useful to live in the past.

Mining is a set of dependent sequential events. One event in the sequence generally have repurcussions into the remaining events, as we have seen, but as a general rule the effect of this failure event will be lessened with time.

In a mining project, in a deep mine, the length of these effects is longer than at a shallow depth.

This is what Centamin has experienced.

Ask yourself, how does the stuff get issued, who does this and why...at present interest rates is the debt servicable, if we have high inflaltion and disasterous productivity (not counting the clicks, likes, and favorable impressions brigade, ,or the hot air and BS of the Musk brigade) ..why does no one talk about productivity these days???
