For chartists, the 1m chart for the Dow on Thursday 11th June reads 25,128.17 pts. If the Dow closes above that figure today I'm thinking it may signify the beginning of an uptrend starting tomorrow? And It's currently on course to close significantly higher than that. We've seen 5 straight days now of the Dow falling hard so a bounce must be due pretty soon...

Allowing mass BLM protests to go ahead was a highly irresponsible thing to do, imv. I don't care who shot who, after all we've been through and the economic cost, they should never have been allowed to go ahead. It's worth noting also that statistically, less than 0.5% of killings is by cops. Whilst 94% of black people killed in America are by black people. So BLM is ignoring the vast majority issue to focus on the tiny minority. If black lives truly mattered to this movement, you have to question why that is? Why it focuses only on that tiny minority and chooses to ignore the far bigger 94% majority. The reason, it appears, is that BLM is an anti white racist movement that promotes black supremacy. It was inspired by Malcom-X and the black supremacist, anti white racist black panther movement. Unfortunately the vast majority who support BLM aren't aware of what it stands for and its origins. At the opposite end of the political side to BLM you have the Martin Luther King side which promotes peace, tolerance, equality, non violence, etc. BLM stands for none of those things and the sole reason it targets that 0.5% figure is because of the anti white racism and black supremacy that is so prevalent with this movement. Regardless of opinion on this, at the very least the protests, if they really did have to go ahead, should have been postponed until the risk of a second peak had diminished.

Strong start for the Dow up 800pts - amazing the difference a day makes.

The share price has already hit £1 in recent days and weeks and we haven't even opened yet! imagine what will happen when the doors finally reopen next month! Lockdown has made people realise just how much they miss the cinema - you only have to read Cineworld twitter feed to see evidence of that. Couple that with a big line up of top movies and these shares should go into orbit real soon, could be talking £1.20+ imo by this time next month?

Dow futures are surging - currently up over 600pts

FTSE is flying back up right now..

The FTSE is bouncing back quite hard now and with the Dow expected to open around +400pts higher, this afternoon could be good.

Asian markets are down due to the ongoing crisis between North and South Korea..... but Dow futures have jumped over 400pts after yesterday's sell off. Could go either way today but my guess is the FTSE will most likely follow the Dow and open up markedly higher. I suspect most shares will be up today but we'll see.

The very nature of the markets is that when prices fall hard, investors buy in. That's the way its always been and that's the way it always will be, irrespective of whether its a war, a financial crisis, 9/11 or a pandemic. Every sharp fall is followed sooner or later by a reversal - either a sharp bounce or a prolonged, gradual uptrend. Positivity always follows negativity. Those who get it wrong sell during the height of negativity. Those who get it right buy during the height of negativity - and then wait.

Keep it in perspective. The FTSE is expected to open around 112 pts lower that's just 1.58%. Hardly a "brutal day". The FTSE 100 is up 27% since its March low and we've seen numerous dips along the way, always followed by a rally.

The FTSE is up 27% since the march low. If it opens 112 points lower (1.58%) that's not exactly a "plunge" is it!!! Jeez.

The Dow jumped on the news so it was obviously well received which is the main thing. Fingers crossed we'll have a better day tomorrow. Shares have fallen pretty hard for the last two days, presumably due to a sell off because of today's fed meeting. Now that it's out of the way and with share prices substantially lower than monday's highs, we should hopefully see the buyers come back in. It's going to be a long and at times rocky road but the fed said they'll do whatever it takes for as long as it takes to ensure the smooth functioning of the markets and recovery of the economy. Which to me sounds reassuring and gives you confidence to invest in these difficult times.

Markets are down due to the federal reserve meeting taking place at 2:30 ET (7:30pm GMT)
Tomorrow might be a better day depending on how the markets react I guess.

Morgan Stanley recently gave cineworld a target of 60p and hammerson a target of 50p - both companies are far exceeding those broker targets. Broker targets are often way out so take them with a pinch of salt.

It does feel like sentiment is returning to the markets quite strongly now. The worst of the pandemic is over imo. Everything is on the cusp of reopening - its very much a case of onwards and upwards from hereon. Share prices may recover slowly at times but the trend will almost certainly be up with everything about to reopen.

Today's US jobs report seems to have made capita boom.
