We will all find out in the next couple weeks when the Finals to yr end Dec 2018 are published. KIV cash reserves were just over £1M in Dec 2017, which included the controversial £1.5M placing in Oct 2017.

Any predictions for cash reserves at Dec 2018 end ? Then add the latest fundraising in Jan of £350K,

Exetrchief - to be honest Stob represents a small part of my overall investments, ignoring manged funds and pension funds, I presently hold 27 separate positions in a diversified portfolio, which I self manage.

I did a calculation last night at end of business and Stob is 2.43% of my portfolio terms of value.

Perhaps we should agree to disagree on the t/o. I am under no illusions that there is much work to be undertaken to ensure Flyb becomes a financially stable and profitable business.

Exetrchief - I'm more than happy to respond to your latest post. In the days before the Flby T/O we were lucky if we had 2/3 posts a week on Stob as it just got on with business.

Nowadays, the number of daily posts is substantially up, keeping STOB on the "latest Share Chat" section for this website, which is great news, as hopefully more and more people will pop into the bb and take an interest in STOB as an investment case.

It matters not a jot that you personally have no interest in passenger no's at STOB's Southend Airport. What does matter is that last year 1.5M passengers used Southend Airport, and with the Ryanair link up, expectations are that this no will increase to 2.5M passengers in 2019. This will feed directly into STOB's bottom line profits.

Perhaps these passengers are seeing something in Southend Airport that you yourself are missing,my friend Possibly its down to the red mist that surrounds you lol.

I had thought posting a picture of Warwick Brady, as an attachment to this post, but decided against it as in all probability your blood pressure would have risen to dangerous levels !! On a serious note your views surrounding the T/O continue to be based on your own supposition.

I'll repeat again to you - should in the unlikely event that there were any wrongdoings, during the T/O process then these would be dealt with by the powers that be.

You have acknowledged that there has been oversupply, which had an adverse effect on the financial structure of several airlines - Flyb, flybmi,WOW,and Monarch to name four.

Flyb embarked on an ambitious, some have said, risky expansion plan, at a difficult time, and ran into a perfect storm which damaged its financials.

The consortium are picking up the pieces and will need to re structure the airline over coming months, many difficult decisions will need to be taken to create a profitable airline, and despite your protestations these decisions will be carried through. Fact. It won't be an easy process, but it will be tackled - head on.

Like you i like DTG, Norwegian is not an investment case for me I'm afraid.

Hi Blumbling - I can give you some info on Carlisle Airport.

Stob have it on a 150 yr lease, until 2151 i believe, at a purchase price of approx £9.9M.

The whole site covers 460 acres, of which 212 acres are used for airport related activities, and the balance of 248 acres is being developed for logistics and aviation related activities.

Between December 2014 and September 2015, a £12 million Freight Distribution Centre was built on the south-eastern corner of the site, which is now leased to Eddie Stobart Logistics.

Stob developed further 21 acres of land adjacent to its existing Air Freight Distribution Centre - this area is called . Eden Park and consists of industrial warehouse and distribution buildings ranging in size from 15,000 sq ft to 330,000 sq ft ( see link below for more details )

There were the usual planning issues and objections to overcome with regard to the Airport itself, but the good news is that these have now been overcome, with Loganair commencing flights to Southend, Dublin and Belfast from 4th May. I've provided a link detailing the summer 2019 timetable below.

i'd be thoughtful talking up Norwegian too much, i'm not sure about the investment case there, based on the underlying financials.

You fail to grasp the importance of the rail link to London my friend I fear.

Southend airport has been ranked the best London terminal in the latest which? passenger survey. It's also been ranked the best UK airport by Which? For the last five years ( info from its own website admittedly ).

There is an over supply issue, hence Connect tackling non profitable routes / flights, surely just good business sense, and it looks like up to 500 jobs may be effected, but let's wait and see. perhaps you'd have preferred continued losses to continue unabated ??

Stob are working with Ryanair at Southend as I'm sure you know, by opening its new base at Southend airport Ryanair expects to create 100 Ryanair cabin crew and pilot jobs. The investment is also expected sustain 750 ancillary jobs.

You do yourself no favours spouting bile about insider trading unless you were personally a party to all meetings, paperwork and negotiations, in the lead up to the "white knight takeover", if not your comments are based on supposition.

As I've responded in past posts, should there have been any illegality no matter how unlikely, of any sort, in the takeover it will come out in the wash.

I fear your frustrations are beginning to consume you, hopefully over time you'll find a way through to a better place, my friend.

Surely you were not expecting a status quo with regard to scheduled Flyb flights my friend, clearly loss making routes / flights have to go, these will be replaced in time by routes / flights where greater demand and profitability is identified.

To have continued with the existing Flyb structure would surely lead to further losses, I'm hoping you'd be able to grasp the logic, though perhaps not ?

Connect will be looking to trade profitability, that's the general idea is it not ?

Regarding Southend v Norwich - a few questions for you
- what are the latest passenger numbers for each airport
- what are the predicted passenger numbers moving forward
- which airport has a direct line station
- which airport has a rail time from London of 56 minutes direct ( avg )
- which airport has a rail time from London of 1 hour 59 mins ( avg ) non direct

i see Saga have decided to deal with the goodwill in the financials with this £310m impairment write off.

That still leaves circa £1230m goodwill in the accounts, which represents a massive amount, for me.

Not sure exactly as to the genuine value of the remaining goodwill, in the accounts and what it represents, but it seems to underpin the whole of the net asset position.

i recall DEB had a similar structure to its financials, and also decided to tackle goodwill at it's most recent end of year accounts. clearly over there, additional issues such as overall profitability and onerous rentals ere also very much in play.

does anyone have more info, on the real value of goodwill sitting in Saga's accounts ?

Europa79 - I agree, some in the media and many on the Flyb bb, way before the "up for sale rampers" arrived, were painting a picture that suggested a turnaround was possible.

Though the black and white of the rns, didn't suggest such a rosy outcome to me.

Again I am sorry for your loss, hopefully, in view of the risk element, with Flyb it was only a small part of a well balanced portfolio for you, and profits on other shares will soon balance out your loss.

Tav - surely anyone who believes their job is secure is at least naive or more likely somewhat arrogant.

Today's cancellations - quoted at 5% of total flights by Flybe is very disappointing and unacceptable.I for one cannot condone poor service - for whatever reasons and would expect all passengers effected to be compensated promptly.

Though financial compensation, in these cases,( short haul flights ) is usually small and doesn't make up for any delays and inconvenience caused.

Media coverage today doesn't indicate how exactly how many passengers were effected, and how quickly they were accommodated on later flights, or alternative flights. Though even one passenger inconvenienced is one too many.

I would expect that the review of Flybe's operations will have already identified, non profitable routes or routes / flights were demand is too low. I understand flights out of Cardiff and Doncaster, are under the spotlight, together with some scheduled flights from Exeter.

Not to adapt and amend the previous Flybe schedule, would surely lead to a continuation of the same Flybe losses, so change is only be expected, keeping profitable flights where demand is high, and reducing flights which are loss making. Then introducing new routes / flights where demand is evident. Though this will likely be a planned change, over a reasonable period of time.

Today's problems are blamed on a combination of factors including seasonality, pilots’ end of leave year, Easter holidays, base restructuring and the shortage of pilots across the industry. This needs to be resolved asap.

I recall Ryanair having a similar problem with cancellations a few months ago, when it had a dispute with its pilots, though i believe the circumstances were different.

think your average was in the 80's Flyb was a long slow drawn out decline.did you not have any opportunities to close down your position, even with a small loss ? There were many warning rns.

it's only a few weeks since the "white knight" rescue package, so how matters develop for the existing bod members is yet to be ascertained.

Ironic - you seem to live in a bubble of depression on most bb's where you post your views my friend.

Stob is (30 % part of the white knight ) that rescued flyb, and protectied both staff and customers.

Again you've posted here without answering my specific questions posed to you - why would that be I ponder ?

Are you genuinely happy to see the suffering of the 10,000 passengers let down by WOW ? Or would you acknowledge that the flyb bod seeing a similar funding crisis coming took the correct course of action in raising it's cashflow concerns to the market by rns and commencing a formal sale process.

Those long term holders over on FLYB had years of concerning financials available to them and should have closed out their positions, not always an easy option I except.

Then there were the get rich quick types, who gambled and lost out, and as I type, are ramping up other binary situations on other bb's.

Whilst I have sympathy for the former I personally don't expect any of the later to be involved with Stob - thankfully I might add.
