Just read the HL comments, would say they were going overboard really they make it sound more of a steady eddie which might have some headwinds but who doesnt. Not seen the Investors Chron article either I assume you have to pay anyway unless things have changed. Still my decision was made way back but the opportunity I really wanted never arrived. Now it just off year lows so hopefully HL, IC and G557 are all correct

Well currently the SP would have to fall to 570, that's some fall or a very long wait. The divi could rise to approx 46p, this might also take a while but might be quicker or a mix of both. Im accepting the growing 4.5% and think inflation might push it along a tad too so I am adding more but upping my average boo hoo. will help the divi income pot a bit more too. I also have been waiting for dips much bigger than this but you need to get in the water at some point to swim with the fish.

I can see the argument for a buyout but the question is who. Magic Mike seems otherwise engaged with his new job and Christo Wiese might be happy with New Look. Ive not looked at the FX rates for the ZAR. Why pay 90p a 30% premium is around 74p. Would shareholders be happy with that? Also Debs doesnt own its store but has very long leases, seen by most a negative as its committing to higher costs with no get out and then there is the debt to contend with but that might work out well depending on which overseas buyer come in which discounts the busy Mike. Use the £ income to reduce debt and pay yourself back when the FX rates have moved back in your favor. Still who is in the frame?

Not sure how separated they can be and I can see the conflict of interest case. Lets hope they dont use too many emails and have those secret meetings in the car parks without cctv... oh and a couple of burner phones. Great for me as a shareholder though or is my imagination running away a bit.

So it beat market expectations and was close to mine. The FX played a bigger part in reducing the overall effect, something worth keeping more of an eye on. So the plan is still on track but the headwinds are still there. Sergio seems to think he can improve on this too, so will be interesting to hear what he has to say. SP has bumped a bit but not really much higher than it has been so could be dragged back down over time and some negative market news. A couple of weeks and we will be collecting the divi.

martin1, not too sure what you are asking. As for improvements it depends on what your start or reference point is. They have a plan post the last down turn that was on track. Headwinds are expected so its how they adapt. I suppose it might affect the pace of improvements but as long as they are making some things should be ok. They will update us all soon

I think shorts had started to be reduced anyway from a peak. From the conf call its good to see that the improvement wasn't down to a specific issue but lots of everything just getting slightly better. They are still calling it a turn round phase so maybe more to come. It seems to be dragging the other supermarkets up with it. I suppose things might track back if they have a bad time but its looking like retail might be coping with the headwinds. I suppose weeding out the weak will make the survivors stronger.

Finally watched the program today, dont think I missed much really lots of by association and innuendo. Although the SFO thinks it might be onto something and smoke n fires etc. They kept saying others were corrupt, countries were corrupt so maybe there were dealing in the real world not the ideal world. Could be big fines, so us shareholders will actually be paying not the guilty, if there are any found. I'm happy for the guilty to have jail time and bans so I can keep my divi, which reminds me I should have pocketed some more recently. No Tony Blair to bail them out but I would be happy if someone said it was done in the UK's interest but would you be the one to raise your head above the parapet. Sorry ARSENAL17 for dragging up old and negative news. Then again doesn't look like its going to be quick investigation either.

anon3, hairline cracks happen all the time in aviation. There are lots of things they can do to mitigate it becoming an issue. Sometimes it as simple as checking it doesnt get bigger. It will depend on where the crack is of course. A casing is much less serious than a compressor blade! Known issues can be given a "life" so if a problem occurs every 1000 flying hours they might change it every 500, so is never really a safety issue, possibly what you experienced. Any "real issues" would of course get worked on, better materials, new design etc which might be more costly and Im sure all engines go through teething problems whereby they have to engineer out flaws.

730 in a year, that about 10% extra. Not great for buying or selling for me. I'd prefer it to swing more either way to help me make a decision. Are any brokers right? Well the usual 5% daily drop would take it to the 49's unless there are a series of em before reporting day although hopefully it will have some support until actual figures are released. Queeny, I see Debs and John Lewis as being more in a fight than Next, deramping is not suggesting things might be difficult as a major competitor is doing well, lets hope its a trend for the sector.
