Well the Queeny Shopping update was worse than I thought, although Im sorry for the reasons why. Hopefully the New Year will bring better times.

Debs took a hit yesterday on the SP, if n1shares is right. Maybe we need a Queeny shopping update as a guide precursor to what might have been going on. Midway, the SP is not too far above "predicted" lows so maybe limited downside and a bit of a bump if thing are on track at the update. Still there will be surprises in the market and the usual suspects to contend with. It might have been a Barvelous xmas for Debs lets hope it has the same success in other areas. Clothing is being scaled back anyway so hopefully more profit. Wonder how good robots are at putting make up on and threading eyebrows. Concerns about leases being added to the books will look worse but no material change to Debs although it would be nice to own some stores.

DT22, Im not going to be trying that strategy. First it doesn't always follow that the SP will fall more than the divi although logic says it should match it at least. It depends on the market and any NG. news too. Add dealing costs and stamp duty and it might not work out. I agree about not auto adding, unless your happy with the SP. I would rather take the cash and invest where I see fit at the time. Second, NG. should be stronger with better metrics post the special so my logic is that it wont fall as much as the divi but the first point might trump the second. So its a choice on what you think might happen, your idea could work, markets tend to fall back after xmas and there might be a big market even just at the right time, some bank failing, a Trump comment or the like. Again Im sure we will get one so you pays your money and take a chance. I'll hold what I have and watch n wait.

Just over a months time, 24th Jan 2017 for Debs Only one more divi till xmas! but the New Year divi''s start on the 4th, woop woop. Started the Christmas holiday earlier than planned at least I will miss the mad getaway and some of the strikes. Not planning to buy any shares and wonder if I should sell some into Santa's rally but I would probably get my timings wrong so sitting on my hands and doing nothing might be the plan whilst collecting divis along the way. Unless its Mrs G's plan to have more time to shop in Debenhams on top of 24 hours of online.

I agree with you Arsenal17, its the boards job to improve negatives and adjust to those outside its bailiwick but I genuinely wanted to know what you saw as negatives, knowing how positive you are. We all have to make our risk/reward calculations and form a view but I struggle to comprehend that you didnt weigh any negatives what so ever before coming to your positive stance or maybe that explains a blinkered view. The "game" was to help serious investors consider both sides and maybe bring out something others have not considered. It was aimed at getting two people to do opposite of their views and others have also added to the post. Sorry that this was below your standard of post but I hoped to lighten the mood slightly and learn something too. ATB
