Glad to be accompanied by some II's in being overweight now.
IMO POLY is underperforming when considering gold price in US$/GBP/RUB, USD/RUB rate and the GBP/RUB rate.

IMO this is just sentiment towards gold mining, everywhere. The market doesn't believe gold will remain high priced, especially in Rubles. My other gold miners are all struggling despite making money hand over fist right now. This is another instance when a correction will happen swiftly to a sector as and when the market catches up, and gold keep's it's value high. It will be a moment most of us will not predict but surely be before reporting season is upon us. Poly reports in end of Jan, and the SP will climb out of the doldrums if there is the likely hood of another high yielding dividend.
I disagree about POLY being marked down due to it's Russian nature. If this were true then Evraz, for example would also be at a discount to equivalent western value, but that's not the case.

The dividend comment was due to POLY announcing an extra dividend in Jan 2020, after things were going well. Gold at the time had risen from $1400 to $1550 (or in Russian 90k to 100k compared to the last 6 months averaging around 130k, the last peak when gold went from 130k to 140k).

This is exactly the kind of price a buyback strategy should be taking advantage of.

PAF is oversold but for how long. Daily chart shows we could go lower before the turn, which is OK for DRIP, buying and long term holding but not so good when looking elsewhere knowing we've just been to 20p and back.

Even the price of gold is out pacing POLY for the last 8/9 Months !!
Since March 2021 POLY Down 10%, Gold UP 7% in GBP !

Poly looking undervalued by 15% surely.
Costs per ounce has gone up drastically, production down. Not as far as we know.
Another extra dividend due in Jan. Russian metals Tax.

I agree, all cases so far show mild symptoms in the news. The virus, like so many before becomes less deadly as mutations go on. If our immune systems and virus's didn't behave like this we'd all be dead from Spanish Flu or the Plague.
I was impressed at the gold price holding up whilst bitcoin tanked on this news. There has been many bitcoin pushers spreading the "Cyrpto replacing gold" mantra. This should help attract more yellow metal buyers looking to hedge against inflation.

I understand Minecheck. You think it was fine for Russia to invade Ukraine before and you seem to infer it's fine for them to invade again, then rig elections, ban people from going there etc etc. Russia has wonderful trustworthy leaders and great media representation. Happy now ?

rbrand, so as far as you are concerned, Ukraine deserved to be invaded, and then Crimea taken by force, where many people died, the day after a million Ukrainians demonstrated in the square in central Kiev for the government to join the EU and ease ties with Russia. Ahh yes, because you believe the story that Russia was being ripped off because Russia's gas companies can set whatever prices they want. You must believe then that Russia will and should be able to invade anyone who questions their gas prices.
Meanwhile the market surprisingly marks down Russian companies, which I disagree with to a point as the ones I am in come over much more honest in reporting than many UK companies.

Hi Egnorts. Yes, saw that... Glad they took the recent rates before the South African Variant news today.
There's only news of some cases in SA, but SA's CV19 record is very good. The last South African Variant didn't amount to that much.

Currently the FTSE is set to open 135 pts lower, not good.
This new variant has been found in South Africa's capital area Gauteng, far from our mining but nevertheless this is not the kids of news any of us wants, and especially for SA based companies and PAF, a few days before ex-div.
In favour of the SP here will be the buyback, the ZAR rate and also the gold price, which is half a percent up but still surprisingly mute.
IMO The gold price is mute anyway considering inflation !

Generally people who deny the serious threat of covid-19 are those who are poor at basic maths.
Death rate = deaths /cases (simple)
Deaths expected without measures/vaccines = population x death rate (simple again).
So without proper anti-virus measures (employed by the world since the dawn of man, ie. stay away from me, don't breath on me), we can stick the current numbers in for the UK.

It also stands to reason that many of these cases have come from those who are vaccinated where the death rate is much lower. (Simple).
So, it would be more realistic to take the death rate from before vaccines making the deaths vastly above a million. (More simple reasoning).

So. The fact you would be prepared to allow at least a million people in the UK to die, is quite frankly abhorrent and vile.

The numbers do not lie, so if this high figure surprises you then I also find it truly amazing you are into investing when your maths is so evidently poor.

POLY has a tendancy to track the gold price but the main difference chartwise between them is that the gold price is in the middle of a confirmed breakout but POLY is yet to cross that line.

The downward trend line when tracking the peaks since April 2020 shows how gold has moved above the trend.
Not sure why the gap down today but IMO Polymetal must surely breakout above and head towards 1630 as the first step. No fundamental reason why the SP here would not follow gold higher. All IMO.

Agree, we all knew about the 5 year plan, the good reasons for the planned cut seem to be the huge spend on new renewables.
IMO Like BP, any cut in dividend will mean a dent to the SP. The FTSE investor does not value shares in the same way as across the pond, no matter how much growth ambitions the companies aspire. We'll see.

IMO The only way we'll see 17p again is if the gold price goes less than 1750.. Debt gone = buyback start, more gold mining and bigger dividends.

Logically in the midst of a sell down, it should be the other way round. Hard to sell and easy to buy.
