I sold out yesterday at a 20% loss at 1045, recovering to 1070 I sighed, but seriously not regretting it now. Rather a gold investment in bars and coins than shares in troubled times. Good luck with you guys buying today for a quick profit.

I'm feeling bitter sweet as I'm am obviously opposed to Putin's invasion and the likelihood of fighting in the streets in the Ukraine, I have friends there, but since going massively overweight in PAF at 16p I must be one of the few who's portfolio is currently glowing as a result.
PAF is undervalued as it is but could this will spark a move to the mid 20's, unless the many others also in the black take profits to soften losses elsewhere and hold it back.
We'll see.

There was I quibbling over losing out on the last divi selling at 613p before ex-div.
I bought the shares back recently at 300, then bottled it at 275 selling out again only keeping a small free holding in the SIPP.
Roman Abramovich's name mentioned in parliament yesterday didn't help but today Western money is pulling out of Russian investment fast.
Soon the share price will be reflecting the US/EU assets only.
Abramovich will have some tough decisions to make and tomorrow may have to be delayed.

Rosneft GDR is down 30% so far today.
Western money seems to be pulling out of Russian investment, elsewhere in mining/steel POLY/EVR have similar markdowns.
I'm amazed BP is holding up as well as it is.
I was in Kiev when Putin moved his troops into the Crimea, they really have no love for Russia, another two countries separated by a common language. There will be fighting in the streets if he moves beyond the disputed regions into Kiev.

Yes still here and I am very pleased with my purchase of TORO. Though still under 2% of my portfolio's worth it is always a reassuring number in green when I check and a very steady rise. I have vowed to increase as there is still the discount to NAV and the chart show's it's one of the few shares not to catch up on itself since the pandemic drop. I've tried to battle through the accounts but as you said previously, all very risky but also delivering. The only decision will be whether to add as TORG or TORO.

The biggest problem here is that every single time Moulding issues a statement or says anything it sounds and reads like total bulllshiiite. Throwing his toys out of the pram and complaining about shorting has not helped. What will help is to assure us there will be no more spin offs like Beauty, putting some of the cash he has taken out of the business back in and knuckling down to making profit then reinvesting it or paying us dividends.
I've averaged down for the 2nd and last time today, but there is no way to know if we are at rock bottom after recent support was broken. Buying today is just a guess as funds were available.

Well looks like I was right about situation, Nato is now increasing it's defence and dealing with the Russian aggression, Ukraine now obviously wants to be part of Nato and Putin is looking like a naughty school boy.
The problem for us as investors is there will be more and more pressure to pull out of Russian investment and companies will be way more cautious about Russian assets. IMO pressure will begin on Putin domestically, as modern times, for example, mean the eyes of the world will be on Gazprom, St Petes and the Champions League Final in May (Which I will be at ). Let's hope the stalemate eases and a withdrawal of Russian troops happens, but meanwhile the discount (30% or more) on Russian companies looks to remain, and investors will be looking to pull out in time unless there is a change of power in the Kremlin. We should be at 1600 in normal times.

Tatt, that is and has been the PAF way for years. People do not get excited by the prospect of steady growth and good dividends, the want to throw money at a share they think will be a ten-bagger and a board populated by know it alls.

Of course it's important, because without the vaccines and lockdowns the world would have been hammered with many 10's of millions of deaths, and unless you believe in conspiracies because you're no good at simple maths and percentages, it's important to know that the company takes the pandemic seriously and has made sure it has not had CV19 spanners in the works. Production and the SP could have collapsed without the measures Cobus has put in place.

I've been considering that as well. I sold up around 610 before the last dividend, then regretted it when I saw the SP go to 614 post divi, but my decision has worked out as we are today and I'm, looking to buy back, but when.
The big question IMO is how much of our dividends and profit have come from coal, and also what will be the ex-div drop, then added to this is what's the possibility of sanctions affecting the Russian assets or even the western assets being seen as Russian owned if Putin invades and the day breaks on a new cold war.
My personal take is that the coal assets have been over-valued given the huge rise in SP of Rasp.
I also expect a rollercoaster. The way things are I could even buy the shares back in the mid to low 300s !

The reality is that Russia has massed an invasion force. There is no justification for invading Ukraine.
Is there a genocide going on ? No. Putin is an aggressive imperialist who should be stopped. Period.

There is no getting round the fact that the terms of this loan are shockingly poor.
10% which is $100,000 a year, plus 60k in fees, plus 250000 warrants at todays price is $75000.
That's the equivalent of $235000 in fees, 23.5% !
I would of preferred an agreement whereby they were paid in actual gold concentrate, we do not need more warrants weighing down the SP.

I think the EU and Nato have shown great diplomatic respect to Russia to deter the Ukrainians to join up as they have wanted to for years. It's ridiculous how Putin wants to decide on the future of a country without the country even being allowed in the talks. The Ukraine, as a free country should freely be allowed to join any alliance it wants to.
Ukraine wants to defend it's freedom from a clear oppressor, and so if they want to buy arms from the arms dealers, of course they can. It's not like they will be currently allowed to buy them from Russia, who have a bad habit of selling arms around the world.

Meanwhile the threat of financial isolation to Russia will be massive and that includes gold exports. However as someone on the BP forum said, there's no chance that Europe will stop buying Russian Gas, gold is minor compared to gas.

On a day like today I'm very tempted to take the hit and preserve what capital is left. The chart is looking distinctively 'dead cat bouncy', or at least sell on the first draw back.

Next Dividend Date ?

Do we know the date of the next dividend ?
An exact quarterly after the last would put ex-div around the 12th of Feb, and be the same 2.5 cents.
OR..
Will Seplat wait until full results beginning of March (which IMO surely will be excellent given commodity prices) then announce ex-div for March/April.

Negotiating the future of a country without their presence, mounting an invasion force and demanding Nato contract as far as Poland. Putin's actions are almost guaranteeing that Ukraine will want to join Nato, the West will urgently look for then sort out energy alternatives and any other country near it's borders will be fearful of any more alliances with such an aggressive neighbour. IMO This will start the beginning of his demise domestically as well. If he thinks the USA can't take a bloody nose then Putin is more stupid than he looks.
