The problem as I see it is that the UK stock market is just a weather vane for the US markets and all the while Powell et al are determinated to sabotage them on the altar of supposedly slaying inflation, UK stocks have no chance. Let's hope they relent from their absurd interest rises sooner than expected so that the Uk markets might finally stand a chance of rising to a level that at least reflects fair value.

I was at the AGM and heard Bond say that if only a small piece of the membrane is holed then it all ceases to work, which is a pretty fundamental flaw and the reason he said they had decelerated it's development. They were clearly exaggerating it's near commercial readiness in the article you are referring to.

AlkaMem announced in 2019 and promoted all the way to 2022/3 and then, oh by the way, it doesn't work! Strange but true.

Bond said at the AGM that it didn't work due to problems with its structural integrity and I don't believe it's anywhere near, something he also confirmed as he explained it was either wait (he used an arbitrary date of 2030 as an example) for AlkaMem or go now with something else to start the revenue flow. In any case I suspect its development is dependent on Professor Varcoe from Surrey uni and other highly qualified scientists in the field, finding solutions and making it reliable through probably further years of extensive research, not AFC. Bond sold it to the market, even patenting a name for it, when he probably knew its chances of appearing in a reasonable timescale, were minimal. I believe that's the main reason the market distrusts him so much and the SP has tanked.

No, just exasperation getting the better of me Jim. I mean the demise of AlkaMem is a big deal and what frustrates me the most about it is that it was always talked about as if it would happen even to the extent of patenting a trade name when all along it was only ever an experimental entity with little chance of being perfected, so all the talk of powering ships and trains was just bluster! The current solid cell set up being used in the Power Towers and hopefully ABB's 200kw unit, incorporating a commercially available membrane, is a poor substitute I feel, unless you can convince me otherwise. 😞

Without AlkaMem it's highly unlikely to be AFC providing the fuel cells. AlkaMem, if it had worked, would've unlocked untold riches.

Hope you're right about the results and subsequent SP Thumper. Investors here definitely deserve a break and more generally from this obviously manipulated attack on airline stocks, which are at COVID lows in the US. It's crazy!
