about the only thing you're right about is the deal in most cases gets done. what you fail to recognise is that in ****ty deals it almost always gets improved in order to pass. and this is one of the worst deals i've seen since shgi, which was improved by 10% to get it done. interestingly a 10% increase puts the value at $250m. nice round number for everyone.

like stas, i also don't know why you're still here. you are risking a 7% gain for a 30% loss (given your !diotic estimations of the sp going back to 9p). no logic.

as for the threats of no higher offer, this happened at shg as well. bhp did a similar thing with anglo. it's just the way it works and muppet pis will sell into the news or feel they have to vote 'yes' for the extra 7-8%, which is all you'll get here. just a sign that gte are getting desperate already, which is a good thing. and yes they can come back with a better offer. rylidan you should read the documents before posting such nonsense.

in the event of a no vote we'll drop back by 1-2p. the sp has a new, higher base in the double digits. and it has put up the 'for sale' sign with a clearer value on what will be accepted. i for one will be happy if gte cannot come back for at least a year. it's a d@g**** company with a woeful balance sheet. it's unsurprising the same pis who think it's a decent deal, think gte is a decent investment. i just don't know how such investors landed on a good investment like i3e given their flawed thinking.

gte can f@ck off or raise their offer. mgt should be reinforcing to gte their offer will likely fail as it's garbage. as for majid, i love the fact he won't get his bonus payments and will need to walk from a cushy +£500k job. it will motivate the sn@ke to find a better offer. or he misses out. either option is fine by me.

i'd like to think the sp retreating is a nice wake up call to gte and mgt that the ****house offer on the table is nowhere near what shareholders are willing to accept. some absolute muppets on both boards thinking that 13.5p (and likely to drop further) is a good deal. gte will up the offer in debt and shares by 10% imo, as the relatively small outlay isn't worth the risk of a no vote where they cannot return for sometime. their balance sheet is a mess. they operate in a basket case sth american country with militant guerillas surrounding them. they need us. we don't need them. still 1 month for a rival bid as well. i'm sure any other suitor would realise that 15.5p is likely enough to bounce gte out of the running, and to get a yes vote from disgruntled pis, iis and funds. less than £200m is a small price to pay for a debt free 18-20kbopd low decline producer in canada with 180m 2p reserves. let's see what happens next.

btw i believe that mgt have a way of knowing what direction the wind is blowing from the mms. voting early, and voting no gives them more time to convince gte a higher offer is required. tell me of a t/o recently that has offered peanuts that wasn't increased closer to the vote. often it happens twice, and often the value disconnect is nowhere near as bad as here. i'd prefer pis voting yes get less than those standing their ground should we get an increase or rival bid. gla

Just voted no with my 4.15m on ii. If we stick together on this we can get more, of this I'm confident. GTE come back with an extra 10%, we get a counter offer (I'd imagine at +10%), or we wait for 12 months and have greater value than the offer and far better prospects. There's only 4 weeks for avenues 1 or 2 happening.

As for mgt leaving, I think the only person who would potentially walk the plank would be Majid. On this I'm not concerned. He pulls over £500k per year for a company with an Mcap of £125m. I think we can find someone equally good for less money. And, getting in some new mgt will mean they will be in the market's ear on the assets and opportunities. I think Majid has gotten quite comfortable and this is simply a way for him to check out with a few extra £m in the bank. I'm fine with him doing this providing we get decent value. Anything at 16p or better I'd happily take right now. Under would be disappointing. But I'm not about to get bent over without a fight for 13.5p. I'd rather see the sp drop back by 1-2p and have us climb again over the next few months, then allow these pr!cks to f@ck us. Majid can go f@ck himself. Duplicitous self-serving @sshole.

Also, anyone thinking a No vote will see us back to 9-10p hasn't been in one of these scenarios before. There's a lot of money buying in at 12.5p. They're not going to take a 20-30% haircut on a failed offer that clearly establishes t/o value at +15p. AECO is at all-time lows. The only way is up, even without LNG Canada and multiple US LNG plants starting up in the next 12 months. And we have plenty of cash to add to our low risk, low decline production. Simonette is blue-sky. There's no way we got to 9-10p. Maybe 11-12p channel and then we climb on better news. If we do briefly hit single digits there will be buyers lining up around the corner. Me included. I've got a lot of money parked for such a scenario and will go all-in. PIs selling out now will be back. And no doubt others who thought they missed out will jump in. jesus bots give your head a wobble. you're going to vote for a deal that will almost certainly be increased if they believe it will fail...? and if it does fail and gte don't up their offer, well no harm done. we'll drop to 10-11p initially, but if you know anything about where gas prices are heading globally and for canada then you'll know this will be 15p in 12 months. and you'll have received 1p in dividends. you're trading a debt free stock with a significant development plan and blue-sky potential in simonette, for a dog**** company riddled with debt in columbia. i'm almost lost for words with your stupidity. gte are buying us to try and dress up their horrendous looking balance sheet. and let's not even get started on the risks of o&g in columbia.

In case anyone is wondering where global prices are heading. Canada LNG and a number of US LNG plants starting up means our gas will be priced at a similar level in the not too distant future. This deal is shockingly bad. Hopefully a counter arrives. GLA

haven't voted yet but rest assured my 4.15m will vote no! i'll update you all once done. not sure if anyone cares to do this but at shg there was a poster who kept an on-going thread that listed everyone voting against. he also included the advfn crew. you'll be surprised how quickly we can get past 5%. also, funds and iis keep an eye on these sorts of things. if they get a sense their vote alongside pis can torpedo a deal i'm sure they will use it as leverage to get an improved offer. with us and jpm we've already beaten their 30%. one more decent sized fund and the deal improves or fails.

another poster mentioned never accept the first offer. this is absolutely correct, and much more so when the value imbalance is so great. the deal absolutely stinks from top to toe. we will make the same amount of money in 12 months just with a small uptick in aeco pricing. but you'll also have an on-going 8-10% yield dividend and shares that have been revalued by the market at +18p should another offer land.

finally, yes there has been some squalid comments on majid on this board. i've made quite a few of them. and i'm certainly not going to stop. if someone behaves like a d@g they deserve to be treated and called as such. majid's behaviour has been unbelievably duplicitous. it's the sort of corporate immorality that other d@g ceo's sometimes do, but this doesn't excuse it.

vote no! and f@ck majid and polus. we either get a better deal, a new bidder, or we wait for 12 months before we make more money than now. you also won't have shares in a ****house company like gte. not in a million years would i put money in there. not even for a punt. it's a house held up by debt. if i sold shg on the first offer i would have been 10% (£75k) worse off. and if the deal hadn't gone through i'd be over £300k better off with gold breaking $2500 now. puts into perspective the wealth transfer from pis to @ssholes when a dodgy deal like this is done. gla

Ii and Hargreaves have it as 29.08. So I'll ask for my money from PTAL or ii if it doesn't arrive in a few weeks. At least I'll get £4.5k coming my way in a couple of weeks. Check out TXP if you want to make a 30% wager on their upcoming Casc 2 & 3 well hook up. News end of month. If it lands it will go form 31.5p to low 40's in a couple of weeks. Has a long history of 25-50% jumps like this (and falls). I'm pretty deep over there with 800k shares so DYOR. Hopefully i'm right and the sp appreciation will more than make up for the disappointment here.

Sorry guys I still cannot find anything from PTAL stating the ex-divi date. Adn there appears to be conflicting information on when it actually lands. I did check the website but it only has previous divis. And they only state the 'record date' in the RNS. These useless £$%"s cannot even be @ssed putting clear information on dividends to the market.

Will hold off a bit for now as the sp could drop a bit further without more support from people like us. As I said I think £300m mcap is the absolute bottom and then primed for a bounce. That would be the absolute f@cking icing on the cake if the ex-divi is today. Why the f@ck wouldn't they clearly state it somewhere. They can't even make divi comms clear to investors. Lesson not to listen to anyone on a bb as well.

I agree one could argue this is an even bigger smash n grab than SHG when one takes into account that Shanta is operating in TANZ and i3e in Canada. Plus we're selling at the lowest gas prices in years.

PIs need to trust in the fact that GTE have gone in ultra low. And if you want more money than you need to vote No. They will come back with 10% and you'll feel slightly less violated for being a bit richer. But you won't have bent over for Majid and GTE. And at the very worst you'll get more than originally offered within 12 months, hopefully with a less duplicitous ceo. Easiest way out of course if for a counter-offer. One month is a long time for another party to arrange finance. I fully expect 15-16p to land in the next few weeks. GLA

Just took the divi and sold out completely here today (last 400k). Far too frustrating to see a bod sitting on $100m and awarding themselves confetti shares. A big chunk went into TIG - worth checking out folks as it's a little beauty. Some more went into TXP, which I'm hoping is going to go on one of its 50% runs as there's HUGE news coming up there in the next 4 weeks.

Reckon this is a decent hold as you'll def get a chance to make up to 20% gains over the next 12 months providing poo stays around $80. Just hate a bod that isn't focused on shareholder returns. I may be back after my i3e windfall (and hopefully TXP) in the next 4 weeks. Have to admit the divi here is pretty bl@@dy good. Good luck folks.

Absolute gift this one. I thought I had missed out when I first read about it 6 months ago when the sp was around 140p. Just picked up 120k @ 132.5p average in about a dozen tranches (all those 5k, 7.5k, 10k, 15k were mine). Pain to to get there but happy with my holding. Also happy to add more if this drops back further.

Market loves round mcap numbers. Don't ask me why, it's just something I see very often as bounce points. I note here the next major support level is around £300m mcap. If we drop back to that level I'll be back for quite a few more.

Quite excited about this one and happy to see it drop to £300m so I can average down. Easy +25% over the next 12 months here. Company has an excellent track record of growth in a growth industry. Good use of debt. Has access to the biggest market on the planet. Directors with skin in the game. And a very good sp appreciation record. Hard not to love it, although clearly some are having issues. Also think this is a very, very good t/o target. Especially with the metrics that I'm looking for current sp.

Agree George. I do however think Majid will either find another deal, or push for an extra 10% from GTE to get it done. I think GTE have done the same as what happened at SHG. They've come in ultra low with mgt's blessing to test the water, and will end up adding 10% to the bid. A bit more cash and shares making up 19.99% of the merged entity is my guess. Majid would know his riches are very much attached to a winning bid. Otherwise he would need to walk and not get his £m payout.

I still think this is a move forced by Polus and designed to flush out some other interested parties. Even if it doesn't go through, there will be a t/o offer not long afterwards for 15-16p that lands. And that will go through. All will be revealed in the next month. What won't happen is we drop back to 9-10p. Too many people now holding in the 12's, with fair value clearly established with the market. And if it does fail and we drop back to 9p I'll be going 'all-in' and adding all the way up to 10m shares. Others who got out in the 12's will do the same and we'll bounce very quickly back to double digits. Can't lose with a 'No' vote, especially with a 10% yield.

There's clearly a lot of people on the sidelines. The smallest buying pressure puts 10% on the current sp quite easily. Providing we get good news, it's gonna be very interesting when we start seeing some 2-3m volume days. The sp tends to move by 50% very quickly (up and down) when this happens. The difference now being we're a producer with a lot of installed infrastructure, and we're sitting near 5 year lows.

George, you're right in the sp will drop back. But I highly doubt to the 9-10p range. The market voting No is a statement of current and future value. Most will recognise that we're heading back to 12-13p in a matter of months anyway. And that we've officially put up the 'for sale' sign so any new bidders will know that +15p is the next starting point. Those who sold out for 12.4p will also buy back in for 10-11p. So we'll have a new, higher floor.

My view is we'll drop back to the 10-11p range. How high we go afterwards will depend on AECO winter pricing. I expect in 1 year to be higher than the current level, and for us to have received 1p dividends during this time. In other words better off. Remember we're drilling Simonette in Q1 as well. Either way I'd rather wait 12 months to get the same / better value, and future dividends, then let Majid the d@g f@ck me over. I felt the same way with SHG. I held close to 0.5% of the company and voted No. We didn't even get to the first offer vote because the Patels and mgt knew it would fail. They then came back with +10% after a few funds had clearly told them the price to pay. I have confidence the same will happen here. Except I think a new bid will land from another party in this time. If I were JPM I'd be speaking with other would-be acquirers and telling them what I'd want as a bid, and that finance can be arranged (if required). Mgt and Polus are forced to accept 15-16p and the whole thing gets pushed through to completion. AIMHO GLA

Still cannot understand how they undertook a competitive sale process for the entire company without telling the market. They've deliberately kept a lid on the share price so GTE can get this away and bargain basement levels. The whole thing stinks. Would love to know the details of what Majid is getting from this deal.
