RE: struggling with finding more exciting share :-), @ CORNISH25 Jul 2021 11:58
I'm sure there are a fair many stocks that will return 300% over that time frame Helpme. The trouble is that with greater returns (typically, but not always) comes greater risks.
Coupled with the fact you are talking about 300% on your overall portfolio, creates even greater risk. As 2phevs says, you'd have to probably pile into one stock or two which is needless to say clearly a high risk strategy.
If you try make 300% portfolio return on one stock and it drops 50%, you then need 600% return. It gets a dangerous game. You can end up with less capital and needing greater risks.
There isn't one winning strategy. It needs to be what works for you. People can invest successfully in may ways, but it need to be something you develop around your own personality, preferences and beliefs. Sadly becoming relatively successful at investing, more often than not, involves losing money along the way.
If I'm honest and I may be wrong in this, it feels like you're gambling at this point, rather than investing.
My only advise would be where you invest needs to be your own decision from your own beliefs, otherwise you'll never feel content. That's when emotional decisions come into play.
Generally I personally focus my research by thinking macro, then narrowing. So for example I'm certain electrification will happen so I started there.
Then I looked at the elements needed. Could have chosen loads but some in the supply chain are replaceable and others like copper etc are less replaceable.
Then I looked at copper stocks but I didn't want the big known names, that's not my preference, I want those that are exploration stage with strong assets and/or unloved production stage. All of which would benefits from increased M&A activity, a rising copper price driven through rising demand and shortening supply.
I sifted through all the stocks I could find and chose very few based on a lot of factors.
Use others posts to help direct your own research, and perhaps help with understanding in some areas but never invest because others are, do it because you believe in it.
Must always be your own investment reasons. Never anyone elses.
Atb - sorry hope this isn't sounding sucking eggs. Just my opinion. Not the views of everyone. Many ways to skin a cat and all that.
Wish you the best.
