RE: ANNE Brindley19 Aug 2021 13:32
I agree that the recent silly ranting on here is not constructive, whether it be about custodial sentences for unsubstantiated accusations of malpractice or hypocritical attempts to cancel any criticism of leadership which, so far, has delivered nothing but disappointment to its shareholders.
It is a painful fact that most people who invested here long term, before December 2020, have seen their investments fall by at least 50%. There has been no real explanation or justification offered as to why the decline has not been halted. Yet it seems that a pious and devout few have managed to rise above the frustration that many of us mere mortals here feel. It must be great to have such unswerving faith that you can sneer and be critical of those who feel let down whilst, at the same time, lambasting them for daring to criticise anything that results in further erosion of their capital. Who exactly is it who is being self-righteous again? The defensive tone towards the CEO and attempts to stifle any criticism in some of the posts are almost bordering on maternal.
The faithful would have us believe that they are long term holders who have lost a lot of money but they do not seek to criticise or ask questions of the way that things have been done because they are considerate and it might upset someone. At the same time, those valiant defenders of the faith are ruthless enough to feel it is perfectly OK to trample over anyone and everyone to make your own dreams come true, regardless of the potential consequences for those left behind. What is also incredible is that they think everyone else believes the same as them! I reckon someone has been watching a bit too much of ‘The Apprentice’ if they think that’s the case.
No-one is saying that anyone should turn down a dream job just to ‘do the right thing’ but they should certainly be careful about how they do it. Announcing it out of the blue when the situation is already fragile isn’t going to stabilise things any further. What is more likely to impress a prospective employer, caring about the state that you leave things in or running away from a car crash? As things stand, the CEO may well be pulling out all the stops to ensure that things are in a good place when she departs. If that is so and she doesn’t walk away from a mess that I’m sure pretty much everyone here will be thankful and wish her good luck. However, the only evidence we have seen of that so far is that Oxilio haven’t pulled the plug. The flip side of that is that she could simply be running the clock down. The truth is that we just don’t know because (as always) we have no idea what is going on behind the scenes.
That is exactly why people should NOT be put off from asking questions at the AGM.
