Just another delegation visiting Timor Leste.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Bendito dos Santos Freitas, had a bilateral meeting with his counterpart from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Omar Shehade, on Monday to discuss strengthening diplomatic relations and bilateral cooperation between Timor-Leste and UAE. They also talked about possible UAE investment in areas where Timor needs support. The meeting was attended by other officials of both Timor-Leste and UAE.
"Today I met with the President of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Emirati Arab Emirates, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emiratisation, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who visited East Timor for the first time since his country's independence, in 2009. We discussed bilateral cooperation between East Timor and the United Arab Emirates," informed Minister Bendito. In addition, the Foreign Affairs Minister of the UAE, Omar Shehade, also had meetings with President of the Republic, José Ramos-Horta, Prime Minister, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Coordinating Economic Affairs, and the Minister of Tourism and Environment, Françisco Kalbuadi Lay, to discuss investment opportunities that can support Timor-Leste in the areas where Timor needs it. Meanwhile, the meeting was accompanied by the Director-General for Bilateral Affairs-Asia and Oceania, Marcos dos Reis da Costa, the National Director for Bilateral Affairs in Asia and Oceania, Manuel Silva, and others.
