Possibly a better translation. Is he talking about the construction of the actual pipelines? This matters a lot to BOIL. Has a deal been done?
On Wednesday, 16 March 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Bendito dos Santos Freitas, accompanied the Prime Minister, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, in a meeting with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Woodside, Meg O'Neil, in Melbourne, Australia, to discuss the development of the Greater Sunrise field. During the meeting, Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão requested that Woodside recognize the rights of the Timorese people, whom he has fought for since the struggle for independence, by ensuring that gas pipelines are built in Timor-Leste. Timor-Leste also acknowledges Woodside's rights to explore oil and gas in the Greater Sunrise project field. The Prime Minister highlighted that Timor-Leste has already won its battle for a permanent maritime boundary delimitation with Australia. Therefore, the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Francisco Monteiro, and his team are working hard to coordinate with Woodside and the relevant commission to ensure that this issue is resolved. Meanwhile, Woodside CEO, Meg O'Neil, expressed her appreciation for the Timor-Leste government's ongoing cooperation in the development of the Greater Sunrise field. Woodside is committed to continuing to work with the Timor-Leste government to develop the mining and gas project in the Greater Sunrise plantation to benefit the people and the nation. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Ministers of Economic Coordination, Tourism and Environment, Francisco Kalbuadi Lay, the Vice-Minister for ASEAN Affairs, Milena Rangel, and the Embassy representatives
