Sunda Energy Plc is progressing preparations for the Chuditch-2 appraisal well offshore Timor-Leste, targeting a drilling start in early Q2 2026, while advancing new upstream ventures in Southeast Asia.

The company’s subsidiary, SundaGas Banda Unipessoal, Lda., has received expressions of interest from seven rig contractors covering 12 jack-up drilling rigs across the Asia-Pacific region. Several proposals have been shortlisted, and a Contract Strategy has been submitted to the Timor-Leste upstream regulator ANP for approval. Sunda Energy said it remains on track to finalize a rig contract before the end of 2025.

The company also reported progress on its Environmental Permitting process, which is expected to conclude in Q4 2025, and confirmed ongoing coordination with a Timor-Leste helicopter provider to support offshore logistics during drilling operations.

In parallel, SundaGas is in discussions with TIMOR GAP Chuditch Unipessoal Lda. regarding potential participation in funding the Chuditch-2 well, along with renewed talks with potential investors. A decision on whether Woodside will agree on the development of Greater Sunrise is very close. Not years away. A positive outcome will transform the future planning of the TL economy and turbo charge the development of the south coast for petrochemical infrastructure. New investment for infrastructure and new oil and gas fields will come flooding in. Without a pipeline and LNG plant, chuditch gas is stranded. A huge boost to Sunda Energy if it happens. If not, untangling Woodside will hold the entire process back. They could press ahead on Chuditch alone but I feel we need Greater Sunrise in there to make this happen.

Kerosene, I think the article talks about negotiations continuing with Woodside in December. I can’t see an announcement at the conference but certainly early 2026. Woodside latest presentation. Not a word on Greater Sunrise.

Which begs the question, why did you buy Sunda Energy shares? You’re not on here as an advisor. We all know it’s high risk, high reward. That’s often the way with most energy AIM stocks and personally I’m content with that. I see massive upside despite dilution and recent news and progress with the TL government’s energy development is very encouraging.

Absolutely. Look at how Finder Energy in collaboration with TL government has seen enormous share price growth. A huge amount resting on AB to work in tandem with Timor Gap to put a funding package together and get this well drilled. Greater Sunrise progress and ASEAN provide a decent backdrop.

Osaka Gas, Woodside and TIMOR GAP, E.P., talked to the state of Timor-Leste and Australia to establish an investability regime, to allow companies to transition to the legal framework for investment in Greater Sunrise and TLNG and a follow-up meeting will take place in December. Currently, preparations from Suai Supply Base - SSB, highway and specific technical study on pipelines to Natarbora are underway.
